Folks

We're going to be moving house in the next couple of months. Mortgage approval came through today so we're buying for a change after renting for the last 5 years :D

That does however mean that this old lady will have to go as I have nowhere to keep her. See this thread for details.

She's been sitting on my drive under a tarp since I got her in April 2012 as I've not had the time to see to her. As with Fraser, I'm purely looking to recoup my costs so she's going for a song. I'm in the Scottish borders about 30 miles south of Edinburgh if anyone wants to come and have a look. Realistically if I can't move her on before the end of April I'll have no choice but to send her to the great Rover graveyard. Please don't let that happen. Someone must have a use for her, or want a resto project to keep them going through the long summer nights.

I'll be sad to see her go

PM me if you want any more details.

A P5 coupe would be my next choice of car if I was in the market.

As someone who's supposed to be downsizing his fleet, that's not the way they should be thinking......

.....Especially as I know where there's a Mk3 Coupe Auto lying in a barn.....

That's why I'm not in the market.

Actually, I'd go for a Mk1/1a or 2. I like the earlier interiors, the Mk3 being too similar to the P5B & I've got one of those.

Beautiful car. I wish I had the space for her!

Me too Chris. If worst comes to worst I will find someplace to store her away but I really don't need the hastle whilst moving house.

Sometimes storage is the best way. My E-type lives in storage, along with a lot of other cars. They take care of her, start her up, clean her every time I take her out. It's not cheap, but is worth the cost until I have the space to bring her home.

If anyone wants a second testimonial on this, I can assure you that it's an excellent project. Where it's bad, it's bad, but an awful lot of the underside was very decent. It's certainly quite a project, but well within the capabilities of many of you on here. The seats are nice, and all the expensive bits are there. The engine and box are both spot on, and when I had it, I was able to drive it up and down the lane where it was stored, with working brakes. Mechanically, it's entirely useable, and under the bonnet is very nice indeed.
Very good luck with the sale, Dave, and I'm sure you'll find a good home for it. It had one owner for the bulk of its life prior to me getting it, so I'd recommend it to anyone really! Much nicer than a P5B, to my mind, and I reckon the mark 2 Coupe is about the perfect P5.

I've had quite a bit of interest in the car, but I suspect most of them are banger racers judging by their Facebook profiles. They are all very keen to have the car too, some offering to come and pick it up this week! Just to be clear.....I won't be selling it to anyone who looks like they might be a banger racer!

I'm off to look at a storage place on Friday that can provide long term secure indoor storage for a reasonable rate :D

Dave

Don't let it go to the bangers, the proper (should I run after saying that  ) p5's rare enough!! If I didn't have too many cars already, I'd be highly tempted...

Well folks I have now secured storage for the old girl, ten minutes from the house, and I'm hoping to have her tucked away in a nice dry container by the end of this week YAY! :D

Great news, Dave. Has that influenced your decision to sell her?

Yep, she's off the market now :D
