1964 2000

So I've had this car for a few years now. It's been displayed at the NEC a couple of times, but off in storage for the last two years.

It's now back in the garage at home, and I've started to go through it, to see how bad it really is.

This, according to the data we've collected, is the 12th oldest remaining 2000. Ordered on the stand at Earls Court in October 1963, it was delivered in March 1964, and has done under 17,000 miles since.

So far, there's a little rot, and the entire drivers' side outer sill needs replacing, but it's not too bad.

Ideally, I'll finish going over it, and put it up for sale.. but if someone is interested now, let me know.

At the NEC the first time: 20170402_171546.jpg 20170402_171616.jpg

Stripped down a little: 20170717_212303.jpg 20180322_090824.jpg

The current state - both front wings were scrapped, as too rotten and full of filler. Engine and gearbox are out of the car, and kept in dry storage

You're talking about the brace? Better angle on this picture, from another of my cars..

They're found on early 2000s

All looks fairly easy to repair for an expert welder, and a wonderful piece of preserved history will result. Interior looks amazingly intact.

Interior so far will need door rubbers, and a carpet set, depending on how far I want to go. The original one is okay, but has some issues and is very faded. When I took the sill covers off, you can see the original grey on the carpets..

That's really good to see, Chris. In far better condition than mine was!

It looks like my OCC will be around the 15th oldest remaining P6.

Nice to see all the little (and not so little) differences between the very early ones, and, well, mine for instance.

I like the steering damper :)
