12volt coil.

Does the rover 1949 P/3 75 have a standard coil or a resistor type. Thanks for any advice.Derrick. PS a merry christmas and a pleasant new year to all.

Thank you for your reply,what ohm resistance should they read on the primary and secondary side. this one in the car at the moment reads 3.4 on the primary side and 16000 on the secondary. iam wondering if this could be the reason why the plugs are going black after a few miles. may be the spark is not hot enough i have had the carburetor completely reconditioned. and new points and condenser fitted, thanking you in anticipation best regards Derrick.Smith.
 
The lucas Workshop instructions gives a primary resistance for an HA12 coil , which is the common none ballast type, to be 3.0 to 3.5 ohms. No info on secondary resistance.
