top gears Richard Hammond crashed at elvington at 288 mph . i used to go and watch drag racing in the 70s. then ride my Norton atlas back home at breakneck speeds ...well it felt fast till the japanese bikes sailed past.
hi, just booked for Ellerton classic car show near york, no entry fee this year just turn up after 11 am.
its a village craft fair as well ,food available, lovely day out. last time i took my 1956 Standard 10.
over 100 cars there in 2016. my 2200 is for sale on ebay at 3450 why not come and...
tore the gasket putting it on so i had to improvise ....made one from some roofing flashing with bitumen on 1 side . bitumen to engine block .did this cos my other car popped is head gasket and i still had to get about , i can report that after 250 miles it is still holding up , so i will leave...
with my eyesight they may be either . but i think they are setscrews as they are threaded from top to bottom , a bolt is only threaded part way . correct me if i am wrong,
got the sideplate off, there was the usual brown sludge ,but not as much as i had on my 2000. but there was also thick black layer of what looks like carbon deposits and boy was it hard this was blocking the drain hole in a big solid lump.
i had to use a small hammer and chisel to remove it...
i have had the tap in a vice and got it opening and closing so now i will try a drill bit in the hole and see if its just hard crud and see if i can clear it

might be worth moving the distributor round a bit ,mine runs better way in advance of the 6 degree mark , might be chain wear , plus my brakes were binding a little and the wheels needed tracking too.
yes, i can see that a worn or wrong size jet could be "repaired"by soldering the hole then drilling out to size , dont know how long this would last though . but sometimes needs must.
could i have been a bit of lead solder from an attempted repair to the filter housing or similar perhaps, i once dropped some in a downdraught carb when soldering the choke cable to the grommet cos i couldnt find a small enough bolt. never did find it.
a little facetious perhaps ,about what i perceive to be costly bureaucratic institutions. The last time i registered a car it was at my local office and took only 2 days. It was certainly quite tortuous waiting over 3 months to have my first drive on public roads. regards IAN
