    Cover

I keep my car in a dry garage over winter but when I light the wood burning stove in the workshop area I noticed condensation would start to form on the Rover. I went to a couple of charity shops and bought a load of cheap blankets, threw them over the car and that done the trick

    Bangers and Cash

Did anyone watch last weeks programme when an ex royal protection squad Rover P6 was up for auction. What was that remote starter all about ?

    In my defense...

Well that brings back a few memories for me. Many moons ago I was in need of a tow car so I paid £90 for a 1966 Viscount at the local car auction ( no ebay then ). I used it to tow a stock car on a trailer with no brakes ( I know, I know but I was younger then) and it used to go through front...

    The Forth Railway Bridge

Forth Rail Bridge I remember crossing it many times back in the 1950's when going to visit relatives. What I remember most is that when we were on the bridge we would open the window and throw pennies out for luck. Everyone used to do it so I suppose the lucky ones were the bridge inspectors...

A little low on the driver side.

Try measuring from the wheel arch to the centre of the hub as this removes the tyres and road surface from the equation and may be more accurate. I remember some manufacturers had slightly different spring lengths on opposite sides of the car to compensate for road camber and ensure the car...

    speedometer over-read

Me too! I felt I was going faster than the speedo was telling me so I hooked up a sat nav and found that when the speedo was reading 60 mph the speed was actually 66 mph. I don't think I'm going to do anything about this but will have to keep alert to it when driving the car. Most other cars on...

    Pre-engaged starter motor wiring.

I find vehicle electrics a bit of a nightmare but if you disconnect the connections on the ammeter shunt one at a time and see if one of them removes the short on your brown wire this may move you on a bit further. Best of luck

    got your vaccine? what happened??

Had mine a couple of weeks ago and had some mental side effects, but as it was just feelings of superiority and smugness I am sure I will get over it.

    rear screen relay

Yes thats it, just been looking it up on my electronic version of the manual. Item 77 labelled Relay for Heater and Heated Back Light with the wire colours W, NW, SN and Earth. As far as I can remember these colours corresponded to the relay I had assumed was the alternator relay above the...

    rear screen relay

In the workshop manual wiring diagrams 86.00.01 sheet2 shows a relay in the hrw circuit. The items to look at in the diagram are 71, 75, 76 and77. Physically I think it is above the passenger side glove box where the alternator relay is/was/ ? fitted.

    Hi there

I would have liked to have kept my MGB but it was hard to justify what had become a garage queen. I reckon you get a lot more fair weather days in your part of the world than we do in Scotland

    Hi there

I really liked my MGB but due to hip problems the only way I could get in and out of it was with the roof down. This made it into a fair weather car and so I decided it was time for it to go. I always had a soft spot for the P6 as the engineering of it appealed to me, and as a petrol head I...

    Hi there

I bought my Rover about six months ago and have been on the forum a couple of times to pick your brains, so I thought I should introduce myself. I live in Central Scotland and I sold my MGB roadster as I struggled getting in and out of it and bought the P6. At present I have got it up on ramps...

    Spark plug grade

Thanks for taking the time to answer my queries. I dont really know what my compression is but I think it will be 10.5:1 as the car is a 1972 auto. I have ordered a set of BP6HS plugs and will fit them and see how it goes. I have probably been a bit rude jumping on to this forum and asking...

    Spark plug grade

I am going through the car during its winter hibernation and today I removed a couple of spark plugs. I found they were NGK BP5HS but I thought the standard plug should have been BP6HS, so my question is what difference will these plugs make to the running of the engine? In the past the car used...

    AC to ACR conversion

    AC to ACR conversion

I swapped my 11AC for an A127 and found it to be pretty straight forward. It bolted straight in and the pulleys lined up ok, the only thing was that there was not enough adjustment on the bracket to tension the standard belt. I was going to look for a shorter belt but found an old MGB bracket in...

Obstruction discovered in choke passageway in carb body. Pennies for your thoughts.

Your intake set up sounds very interesting as I like to help an engine breathe better, so could I ask a couple of questions. Is there much difference in intake noise? What did you do about the flame traps, breathers etc. Did you need to change the needles Thanks in advance Dochie
