Brake Servo- Booster air valve spring

Thanks Cobraboy. Quite true the they are different...but both are valve piston rubber seals. I would say comparing oranges and tangerines...:hmm:

Brake Servo- Booster air valve spring

Thanks Ron. I thought that maybe changing the position of the rubber seal, could help the piston not to stick in the bore. But for sure that could cause the fluid to leak.

Brake Servo- Booster air valve spring

Sorry to bother you, but I have another question: I took off the tiny piston in the air valve. The piston comes with only one rubber seal, as you can see in the photo. Is the seal installed correctly or has to be installed the other way ? In another forum ( Landcrab ), the piston is in the...

Brake Servo- Booster air valve spring

Thanks Ron, that explains why some booster didn't come with the big spring. I've sourced one from a garage and will install it.

Brake Servo- Booster air valve spring

With Brexit, everything coming from UK costs a lot, money and time...

Brake Servo- Booster air valve spring

Thanks Colin for your interest. I read this thread in the Lotus forum and apart the comment about removing one of the o rings, I found a picture where I can see clearly the big spring that I missing.

Brake Servo- Booster air valve spring

When I made the servo, I bought the complete kit: big 7"diaphragm, complete slave cylinder kit, and air valve kit ( white cap, filter, rubber diaphragm but no big spring ). Wins, Wadhams and MGBD doesn't seem to have it. I will try to build one with a soft spring and see what happens.

Brake Servo- Booster air valve spring

The same happens with my servo. It comes without the big spring

Brake Servo- Booster air valve spring

Thanks for your answer. As you see, some valves have the big spring and some doesn't. I will try to build one; maybe cutting the soft spring inside the SU carburetors. With the Brexit, getting parts from England became a little nightmare and takes ages.

Brake Servo- Booster air valve spring

Thanks Cobraboy but I'm talking about a bigger spring that should be under the white cap, between the cap and the rubber diaphragm.

Brake Servo- Booster air valve spring

Thanks for your feedback ! The problem is that again, in the Big Workshop Manual ( and in my valve ), the spring doesn't exists. ( see photo ) And there is no spring in the kit.

Brake Servo- Booster air valve spring

Dear people, first of all excuse my English. I´m into the final process of fixing the brakes of a 1976 Rover P6 2200 TC, that belongs to a friend of mine. I´ve made everything: - rear calipers kit ( late Girlin ) quite complicated but accomplished thanks to Mark Gray´s video. - front calipers...

Well ...almost above, the wall in the back is part of the pool. And in the patio , with bad company, we play with other British oddities.

    First start after rebuild

I found it very straightforward, despite I've had a couple of problems. The main one was that I've lost most of the photos of the disassembly. Its very important to take lots of pictures during this process. For me it´s essential: - Good tools. I mean not a pro garage, but the essentials ( a...

    First start after rebuild

I´ll tell you that I really fell in love with that car. The engine is a beautiful piece of engineering. It likes so much that I'm thinking to sell the other two British classics and go for 3.5 v8 and install a 5 speed gearbox...I hope:D

    First start after rebuild

Hi people, since the last time some things happened. I've managed to tune the carbs using a couple of Colortunes. Its quite accurate and after a couple of long test rides, the sparks looked quite nice. I replaced the distributor for an electronic one (Accuspark), Its a good value for the money...

Got it !! The noise does not worry me, but I don´t love to loose performance.

    First start after rebuild

Thanks sdibbers !! ...and what is your opinion about replacing the original air filter ( with the funny vacuum system flap ) for a couple of nice pancake filters :)..I don't mind about originality, I would like more space to work on the carbs.

    First start after rebuild

Now is time for carburetors. Yesterday I read your complete article about balancing the SU and despite they are not HS8, is going to be very useful. Apart the good news about the oil pressure sender, I made a new ignition timing with all the pipes going to the manifold plugged. In my car...

Yes !! Things are getting better: I made a deep clean of the sender with brake cleaner and ...it works !! ( saved 95 GBP ).

    First start after rebuild

Call me crazy, but some answers about the problems I'm getting with this rebuild, come at night when I'm in bed: I realized I've done a stupid thing ( I guess ): I plugged the distributor not the lines that goes to the carbs. I will do the timing again with the lines plugged and see the...

    First start after rebuild

I forgot to comment that the carbs are with no air filter. Could it be the cause of the fast idle ?
