P4 was misfiring a bit and now won't start

Cannot speak for a P4, but on my P6, lack of fuel reserve was due to a blocked pick-up in the tank, caused by sediment in the tank. Blowing this clear with an airline released a mass of sediment which subsequently clogged the fuel filter. Looks as if you need a complete clear out of your fuel...

Ex-Met Police 3500 P6 sold at Historics Auction, Ascot

I am glad the car has gone to an owner who appreciates it. Car like this are an important par of P6 history, from a time when the Police used British crs and not, as we see on TV (Police interceptors) Japanese or German cars. Many Police I have spoken to have recalled the days of P6 patrol...

    P6 Wiper blades

I was going to replace the wiper blades on my 3500S, but could not find any reference to rover 3500S in Halfords. Is there a modern equivalent of the blades fitted to P6? I know that Rimmers et al all offer replacement blades, but is it possible to get the right size replacements from local...

Ex-Met Police 3500 P6 sold at Historics Auction, Ascot

Expensive, but if you really want such a car, then you have to grab it when you can. Surprised at the low mileage

    Re-awakening.

Back in UK from last week, I started up my 3500S for the first time since last July. Kept in lock-up garage. First attempt was a failure. One 'kick', then nothing. I suspect that I had flooded it. Usual starting routine, pull out choke and start. Since in my garage I cannot access the engine...

    Oil pressure

JP 928, I will leave it to you to explain the how the oil drains, but the fact is, that 3 times I had to prime the oil pump when starting the engine after a 3 month lay up. I changed the filter supplier and never had the problem again. I only report what happened so hat others might benefit.

    Oil pressure

This used to happen on my 3500S when left for 2-3 months without use. Always had to prime the oil dump, which I found was a real pain. Eventually raced to the oil filter being the 'wrong type' I was told that some filters have a non-return valve to stop he oil draining back to the sump...

    Classic motorbikes

Please ignore my last post, last week.. I was having a 'senior moment' as I live in Thailand and was talking about m/c there. I have sympathy with O/P, looking to chase a dream, but he might have too many expectations. Start slowly, buy a small bike, , get training and m/c licence. Then you...

    Classic motorbikes

I may be an old cynic, but I am very sceptical about he 'Romance of Open Air mooring", or the thrill of "wind in your hair" In my youth, when theses things ere supposed to be "fun", I had a convertible AH Sprite, and hardly ever used it with the top down. Both G/F and I hated it Even though...

Good work. The colour is just what I would like my 3500S (Tobacco Leaf now) to be.

Hi, indecater troubles not working at all but were

Power to the flasher unit? Bulbs in indicator? Ignition switched on? You should do some basic fault-finding before asking vague questions.

LED HEADLIGHTS, my limted experience so far

Please keep this theme going. I have been trying to improv my lighting. Like Steve I bought LED lights and found that the light+heat-sink+electronic module would not fit, so gve up. I have bought some 'high power QI bulb hat claim to be direct replacements in H4 lamps, but yet to try them at...

Good write up on the Group 2 cars

I followed Gr2 racing at the time, and I fear that Rover were taking on too much. Ford and BMW had works teams, and would have been far ahead of Rover. The only appearance of rover at race meetings I can remember was to demonstrate the Dunlop Denovo riunflat tyre

    Fuel pump

You might consider fitting new floats. I had a problem with fuel overflowing the float chambers on my3500S. Started suddenly after fitting new water pump! I changed needle valves and reset float levels to no avail, then on advice from Burlem fitted new floats. Problem cured, thought there...

    Fuel pump

It sounds as if you do not have a fuel return pipe, as the pump s should stop pumping s soon as it encounters pressure to deliver against. i.e when the carbs are full and he floats cut off any more input of fuel. The Rove fuel return is a pipe from the driver's side carb and goes back to the...

    electric fuel pump??

I know it is of topic, but Vapour lock can be a real problem with roveV8. I fitted my electric pump to cure the Vapour lock, which it did for a time Finally cured, I hope for good by following the instructions from Chris York in P6 Club magazine. I do not think that it is a copy-right issue...

    electric fuel pump??

I agree that fitting an electric pump is a matter of preference, and rebuilding manual is also an option, and perhaps we should also note that if an Electric pump fails you are stuck! (I have had 2 fail in 20 yrs) but even so I find the ticking of the electric pump comforting. When I bought my...

    electric fuel pump??

I have a Facet fitted to my 3500S. You should have a pressure reducer in line. I fitted my pump on O/S wing t front, and too the feed from the reserve tap, using flexible hose.. For safety, you should have an 'impact cut out' fitted to the electric supply line, so that the pump shuts off in...

    Old Lucas or new LED?

Caution! I bought LED conversion bulbs' from well known supplier, advertised in the motoring pres. (can't remember who it was.) The headlight LED's supplied did not fit in the existing holders, nor could I see any way they would, without significant butchery of the holders/ backing dishes...

    Gearbox options for 3500S

Thank you for all the replies. It seems to me that the easiest route is with a LT77. if I can find one. If not I will have to start saving to afford a Madza conversion. Could be the preferred way, as LT77 are getting so rare. If I do the conversion, I want it to be 'once and for ever' job...

Remember when we thought a P6 was a normal sized car?

This raises the question; What would you replace your P6 with ? Modern or Classic.
