Hi All,
Got a 1971 series 2 P6B auto.
Got an intermittent fault with the ignition switch.... failure to start and v occasionally firing the starter motor with the key in position 2. Have checked inhibitor switch, starter relay and solenoid and they all work fine.... so, fairly confident the...
Contacts seem ok... just construction that is a bit rubbish. on the relay point there are already 4 switches to operate the starter....ignition key, inhibitor switch, starter relay and starter solenoid.... I'd be reluctant to add another!
Hi All
So I'm fed up with low quality inhibitor switches and the faff of replacing every 6m to a year. A common fault seems to be failure of the crimped metal cylinder to grip on to the plastic top housing the spade connectors. The last 2 have fallen apart in my hands as I unscrewed them from...
Hi All
My BW35 inhibitor switch has failed (again). I've sourced from a number of vendors and never had one that lasts more than about a year. Does anyone know of a decent brand or vendor? I've seen some expensive one on classic Jag sites and wondered if they were better or just pricey because...
Hi All
I've come across a project S1 car with a nice interior. I have an S2 car with a tired interior.... can you swap them over? seats and door cards?
thanks in advance for any advice
Hi All,
Got a 1971 P6B with BW35 transmission. It has been starting in neutral only for a while but recently the reversing lights have been on in all gear lever positions apart from neutral. Have just replaced and adjusted the inhibitor switch and it now starts in P and N but reversing light...
Hi all
there are 2 leads that go to the starter solenoid. one from the starter relay and according to the wiring diagram the other comes from the coil. looking at mine the lead from the coil is not attached yet the solenoid still functions..... what does the lead from the coil do?
thanks
Richard
Hi all
PAS pump on 1971 P6B was leaking so I got a seal kit from Wadhams and removed pump and have replaced all seals apart from the shaft oil seal that sits between a retaining cap and the shaft bush.
how do you remove the old one and replace with the new one? I'm stumped.
Any and all advice...
thanks.... i've now had the outer sill cover plate off and inspected along the length of the sill. the corrosion does seem to be localised to the last 4 inches of the curved part of the inner sill .... appeared solid behind that
so had rear passenger side wing off to do a tiny repair..... thought i'd clean and waxoyl wheel arch and inside of wing before putting back together. found a nasty hole where the inner sill meets rear wheel arch.... picture attached..... is this fiendishly difficult to repair?
