    Engine wont rev above 3000rpm

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but consider replacing the white plastic vacuum diaphragm unit on the top of the brake servo. A few years ago I bought a new one from a reputable source, put it on and forgot about it as the car wasn't used for a time. Car ran poorly at certain speeds, replaced...

    Easily distracted!

Just make sure you protect the valve stems from being severed by rotating hubcaps. Happened to me at 100kph but car responded superbly. I believe it is why many Brit police cars were hubcap free zones.

    Replacement Leather seat covers

So working with my aged arthritic hands I have fitted the seat covers. The quality of the leather, vinyl and stitching is excellent, I'd go so far as to say better than the original. The leather is supple with a fine aroma and is covered with a foam backed cloth. The vinyl is a thicker quality...

    Replacement Leather seat covers

Thanks Mick. No problem getting covers over the foam as they basically sit on top and are then secured from the sides and back. Have put wadding backed calico over the foam. If anything I have the opposite problem, air pockets under the seatback cover. This could be easily solved by gluing but...

    Replacement Leather seat covers

about 25 years ago I acquired a couple of front seats, upholstered in vinyl (same pattern as the leather seats) with the idea of using them and preserving my original leather seats. This never happened probably because they had sagged a bit, and I kept feeding and dying (actually painting) the...

    Hi new 2000tc owner Lancashire

Welcome. It probably was buckskin, as is ours, I've just ordered new leather seat covers (for a spare set of front seat, will keep the originals) from Lseat in the US. Their ivory colour seemed closest but the leather is quite heavily embossed. For that reason ordered dark red piping as a lark...

    Get an MOT done!

We don't have that requirement in Victoria Oz, though other states do. That said I take the car to a very competent mechanic at least twice a year. Taking her to him tonight so the exhaust will be cold for the swap to ceramic coated manifolds tomorrow. (had a spare set coated a week ago). On...

    Early series 3500 Grille

Thanks Chris that would explain it but the donor car was a 3500 and the left hand sections of both grilles are identical. It may not be clear from the attached pics, but the distance from the edge of the grille to the headlamp surround on the original is 15mm whereas it is 25mm on the red...

    Early series 3500 Grille

Probably 20 years ago I acquired a spare grille set (from a car in a wrecking yard) which some time ago I shadow painted, masking the headlight surrounds and the outer edges. Doing a bit of fiddling yesterday decided to replace the original grille with these. The left hand section with the 3500...

    P6B S Project Car

I'm probably too simple, but I use the alligator clips of my Projecta Battery Maintainer to connect to the battery terminals and disconnect them as required. It does mean that the battery cover stays off most of the time.
