    Rover 3500S (P6) for sale!

Just an update. My Rover was sold this weekend to a lovely chap from North Yorkshire who I suspect will be on here before too long! I will now be signing off from this forum and signing on to the equivalent one for Volvo owners. Thanks to all those who have given me help and advice while I have...

    Rover 3500S (P6) for sale!

Yes that’s the actual car. Thrilled with it. Not a particularly fast car - my Rover would leave it in a cloud of dust - but absolutely drop dead gorgeous to look at. Well I think so anyway!

    Rover 3500S (P6) for sale!

Hello - I am pretty well known on this forum and a member of the P6 Rover Owners' Club. I have decided to sell my lovely 1972 Rover 3500S - it is Monza Red with a black vinyl roof and Sandalwood leather interior. Why am I selling it? Because I have just bought another classic car - one I have...

    Convertible up for auction

See that there is a convertible P6 going under the hammer at the H and H classic car auction in Buxton later this month. Also a 2000 SC. Here is the link to the convertible. Not much info/pics up yet: 1976 Rover 2200 TC Convertible - Price Estimate: £2500 - £3500

    Sticking oil pressure gauge

One other small thought. I had a situation once where the gauge needle kept sticking in the same place. I eventually realised that when I had had the dashboard Perspex off in order to remove a faulty time clock I must have caught the needle on the oil gauge and bent it out slightly. When I put...

P6 dashboard tray distortion - any solutions?

I can imagine the blank looks if I went into B and Q and related that to them!

What did you use to bond it?

    Heater box teardown and rebuild

Well it’s a mystery to me then why Tom, who has probably rebuilt more P6s than anyone on here, saw the need to remove the bonnet. Getting the box out was tricky enough with the bonnet gone - goodness knows how harder it would have been with it there. Still. I’m no expert.

    Heater box teardown and rebuild

It takes two people to remove a bonnet and rehanging it correctly can be tricky. Tom Cheetham, who I think we can accept is a guru when it comes to the P6, did mine as I watched (and helped) and I would describe it as a sizeable job.

    Heater box teardown and rebuild

Alex charges about £350 for a completely refurhiahed heater box which has new matrix, new seals, new fan motor etc - or £300 if you send her your old box. Sending your old box only costs about £12 by courier. But fitting them is a pig of a job as wipers have to come off, scuttle and bonnet have...

    Speedo under reading

Mine is similar. At 25mph on the speedo I am doing 30mph - so you have to be careful with speed cameras. Don’t know the answer but would be interested if anyone else does. I just adjust my speed accordingly. Usually I drive with the speedo showing about 5mph under the speed limit.

    Boot lid won't stay up

Mine always stayed up until I replaced the boot lid liner (which was missing). Now it sometimes stays up and sometimes doesn’t - I think it depends on whether I am parked on an up or down slope. So if you weren’t bothered about it, you could always try removing the lid liner? It’s all to do with...

    Viewing a V8

I’ve owned my car two years and driven nearly 10.000 miles in it and not had a single problem with the gearbox. I would always have a manual over an automatic so don’t let all these scare stories put you off.

    MOT exemption question

Well I agree with all the rest and will continue to have my car MOT'd - for safety reasons and because it shows any future buyer that you have been sensible with the car.

    MOT exemption question

As we know, from May cars over 40 years old that have not been substantially altered do not have to undergo an MOT test. However, owners can voluntarily put their cars through an MOT should they so wish - which seems like a good idea to me. But the question I can’t seem to get answered is...
