    Carb settings

Hi all, I’ve just done a complete valve train overhaul on my ‘74 ‘S’ fitted with HIF6 carbs (I think) definitely HIF’s. Before the overhaul the engine was running fine but knew the cam was worn. During the overhaul I’ve fitted one of JR Wadhams uprated cams (an extra 25bhp is claimed ) and...

    Headlight Conversion Options

Hi all, Had (another) sealed beam unit go the other day so ordered a halogen light kit. All fitted and working fine but realize that I should also upgrade the wiring to include relays to cope with the higher current loadings before I do any long night time stints. I presume the best place to...

Stiff breaks With running engine ---> Bleed problem rear *Fixed

Had a similar problem with mine (but single circuit brakes) when I fitted a new seal kit to the servo. The tiny piston in the air control valve was sticking in the bore (I think the new seals are manufactured a bit over size). When the piston sticks it still allows pressure from the servo to...

    P6-3500S PAS Model, Steering Wheel

There's a tatty one on ebay that would need a recover (no centre badge), or try Mark online at MGBD spares.

    Hi from Worcestershire

Good luck with the restoration work, like you say the interior is more of a challenge with parts harder to find. You've got a fairly rare optional wooden gear stick knob there. Adjusting knob for steering wheel shouldn't be that colour, should be black. Also look like original seatbelts. All...

    Advice for buying a p6

Hi Rob, Just my personal opinion but I think there are better examples out there for that money. A lot depends on the condition of the base unit especially the floors at each end of the sills and the bulkhead where the front suspension springs sit. Looking at the last of the photos I can't...

    Pair of Series 1 V8s

Hi Simon, bit of a strange question. Where did your Uncle Bert live? I had an Uncle Bert with a P6 who lived in Wandsworth, London !

    Help!

Have another go but try warming the back and the plastic retainer in very hot water before you do and also coat the plastic retainer with washing up liquid to lubrcate things. The heat may expand things just enough.

    Help!

Many years ago I did manage to remove the plastic retaining strip and take the glass out on one of these using small screw drivers as levers. From what I recall it didn't cause any damage. May be you're only option and replace the sheared off screws. They do come up every now and then on ebay...

Series 2 3500S, which Steering Wheel, Which headrests?

All the leather fell off mine so I put a wood rim on it ;)

    Woodrim Steering Wheel

It was a standard leather wheel with round steel ring (never seen a square one). The spokes are just polished with a small (3")buffing wheel and Solvol Autosol so I'll take that as a compliment :).

    Woodrim Steering Wheel

Thanks, I know that there are 2 different 'camps' of thin or thicker rims. I'm sure it would be possible to do a thin rim similar to mine but it would just take a lot more care with smaller tolerances etc.

    Woodrim Steering Wheel

Hi Peter, I haven't put the finger mouldings on the back, I have PAS so didn't feel the need. It would be possible but very labour intensive without some form of jig to get even depth and spacing. I note your concern about the potential for it to be slippery but many of the aftermarket...

    Woodrim Steering Wheel

Thanks Neil. I may be willing to make some for members if they’re interested but due to the amount of work they wouldn’t be silly cheap. Probably similar to the Motlita type prices though.

    Woodrim Steering Wheel

Always wanted a wood-rim steering wheel in my 3500s but didn't really like the thin original optional wheel, I did however want to keep the original two spoke design. Final conclusion was to build my own. Really pleased with it and reduced it to 15" whilst I was at it.

Custom Anti Roll Bar- Cheap opportunity!

Hi Graeme, yes you're right and sorry for not posting before (been enjoying my transformed 3500s too much). Fitted my ARB as supplied by Torsion Performance. I fitted a 24mm bar but was given the option of 25mm however erred on the safe side regarding clearance. Looking now a 25mm would have...

Custom Anti Roll Bar- Cheap opportunity!

Maybe one review by Tuesday. Still waiting on Parcel Force and it'll go in as part of a total rebush of the front end. Just need to make up a tool to keep them bloody front springs under control.

Custom Anti Roll Bar- Cheap opportunity!

Just thought I would add my two pence worth as a new member. After following this thread I contacted Steve at Torsion Performance. I was offered a choice of 24mm or 25mm bars (took the 24 option to minimize clearance issues). I was quoted £120 for the bar which was paid for seamlessly by bank...
