Hi guru's - quick question this time. With the RV8 and BW65 auto is there any spacing required between the flexplate and converter? I had always assumed they were directly bolted to each other. No diagrams on the interwebs indicate spacers, but just checking before I do something expensive...
Howdy,
Just curious if there ever was/is an overdrive option for the v8 BW like the MG's had? I'm running 3.58 rear and that's the tallest ratio I can get for my diff.
Short story long, I'm putting a 3.5 into my Mk2 Cortina. I've been keeping an eye out for a cheap 4.6 (for later, the 3.5 has to go in for the car to be certified as I'm only 'supposed' to go to 3.7L max capacity) and I managed to get one at price I couldn't resist. Before I got assurances from...
Ok so something must have been swapped. Both the 65 and 66 I have have the same diameter input shafts as a 35 I have laying around. They also have the same number of splines so I test fit the '65 converter and it fits....I wonder if the 66 was changed back in the day to suit a Rover?
So, I have a 65 sitting next to a 66 on the bench. Apart from the ID plate they appear exactly the same externally. Input shafts both measure the same... off to count the splines but I suspect they'll be the same too.....
I wonder if the Rv8 '66 were made with the same input shafts as 65's for...
Thanks Harvey, I appreciate your advice. I have a lead on a new breather now - I tried removing the one from the 65 and it kinda disintegrated.....Happy to stick with all 66 bits as it's a custom installation anyway.
Additional question, apart from changing a leaking input seal and replacing filter/pan gasket, is there anything else I should do before installation? I know it's a 50 year old box and might not be perfect, but I just want to get it in and moving for now.
Hi gang,
So for my project I have a BW65 and a BW66 in the parts bin. I'm using the 66 as I found a crack in the case of the 65 (D'oh!). Question is, are the torque converters interchangeable? 65 came with a brand new one.....I have another that I think came with the 66 but it's been so long I'm...
Yes I did thanks Mike. I've advised the new owner to join this forum, and I'm staying on as I still have an RV8 for my project and you're all top blokes.
