    cyclist rant

Well said Ron. I'm sure we could all come up with tales of dangerous cyclists, motorcyclists, car/truck/van/bus drivers but that should not give us justification to class them all the same. All sections of society have a percentage of nutters, some of them make sweeping statements like ' I...

    The lure of the P6

I am 39 , one of my earliest memories was a farmer I knew driving a P6 and as a kid I always liked the look of the car but as I grew up never actually thought of buying one. Moving on I had to cut back on motorcycling when I had children of my own but wanted to still drive something interesting...

What cars appeal to Rover owners

Here is an odd choice. I've had a Citroen Berlingo Multispace for 7 years now and all things considered it is probably the best all rounder I've had. Its not the fast or pretty but it has been cheep to run, reliable and ultra practical. Its not my main family car but I'd be lost without it...

What's the weather like where you are?

1/2 way between Glasgow & Edinburgh, couple of days snow in last 2 weeks but not too much of a problem. Been very cold here, ice patches all over, slippy in car parks and side roads. Freezing fog tonight. Like beer for breakfast, but whisky for supper. robert

    Holts Tyreweld

mot - my tester told me the spare will be checked during a test if possible but if it is illegal will not fail the car, only issue an advisory note and many new cars do not carry a spare now, they either have run flat tyres or a can of sealant. Holt Tyreweld - I used to work as a tyre fitter...

    non starter

the charger is a good quality but fairly low output unit which I bought mainly for motorbike batteries so I dont think it should be too risky, and I have used it on the car before. I will probably just buy a new battery as this one is 4 years old. I'm hoping a light chap on the starter will...

    non starter

My car has not been started since August, went today and connected battery charger to battery and tried to start. Rev counter jumped up 1/2 way round the dial and stayed there when I turned on ignition, and when turning key fully to start all I got was a buzzing noise from engine bay. 1975...

    touch up paint

Thanks guys. I had a quick search on google and found many suppliers. I used a company called Auto Paint St Helens, who can send paint by post. I got a small tin with brush delivered for under £10 and it looks like a good match. Robert

Petrol "Lead" Additives - Superblend - Now Morris Lubricants and receipe change

Brian, you said you switched from Tesco to BP , do you think this made any change to the performance. I have seen huge debates on other forums with arguments for and against supermarket fuels both standard and 'performance' unleaded and no one seems to agree if any is any better, possibly...

    touch up paint

I have some stone chips I would like to touch in on my car, the local paint shop have told me they cannot supply the paint in a touch up stick like they can for modern paints. Has anyone used or recomend an online supplier which will post a touch up stick or small tin of paint. thanks Robert

    P6 Pickup???

I once saw an SD1 pickup it was owned by motorcycle trials rider Sammy Miller and he used it to transport his bikes around. I often saw it at Fort William during the Scottish Six Day Trial which must be about 600 miles from where he was based on the south coast and given the choice of a 1200...

    overriders - with or without

I have a 75 2200TC with overriders but earlier this year I had the rear bumper rechromed, and to finish he job got 2 new old stock overriders. When I got the bumper home I fitted it but never got round to fitting the overriders and I have used the car like this all summer. Over the months I have...

    overriders

Trying to fit recently bought overriders to newly chromed rear bumper, but the fixing bolt seems to short. Can any one tell me are to bolts to short or as I suspect, should there be some sort of block bolted to the inside of the bumper which the bolt screws into or pushes against. Robert

    Number plate light

Thanks for replies. I will probably go down same route as arthuy, as I said the chrome and glass are fine so I only need to replace the bulb holder part of the lamp. Another job for a wet day. Cheers Robert

    Number plate light

The exterior of my number plate light is in good condition, but the bulb holder inside is pretty rotten. Has anyone any tips for obtaining a new bulb holder other than just buying a complete lamp. Robert.

    3500 bumper on 2200

Thanks Colin I cannot get to my car until next week, but I will have a look at the mountings. I will probably take the easier option of selling and using the funds for a good 2200 bumper or re-chroming. Robert

    3500 bumper on 2200

I'm not too worried about cut out, and if the outer mountings are the same great, but does anyone know for sure. I got the bumper from a customer who bought it new when he had 3500 in the 70's and never fitted it. It was still in wrapper and I was hoping I could use it rather than just selling it.

    3500 bumper on 2200

I have bought a front bumper for a 3500 to put on my 2200tc, I have looked back at similar threads on this forum and according to the advice given then, it will fit to the car ok. Does anyone know if the number plate brackets are in the same position on both bumpers so my plate will transfer or...

Tyre size for ´69 2000 auto

I recently changed my 4 tyres and rather than fit 185/70x14 I chose 175x14. Although the 185/70x14 size gives the same rolling circumference, I was not sure if my rims were wide enough the take advantage of the wider tyre, I dont know if the 4cyl and 8cyl ie 165x14 and 185x14 used the same...
