    NADA rear bumpers

Evening David, If you still have a decent Rear NADA bumper I'd love to buy one please. I could do with a front one too. Regards, Louis

    Automatic Gearbox Refit

Thank you for your reply. I think the wiring is probably OK. I've noticed other owners have similar starting scenarios. My car is a 1970 Series 1 (UFS 162H) Yes it's the RHD NADA. The Selector unit pictured is from a '75 3500. I have to admit I might be wiser to sort the callipers out...

Thanks John. I will indeed. Their crib sheet is very general.

    Automatic Gearbox Refit

I guess it's all a bit of a learning curve. I'm assuming you mean the kickdown cable? Fortunately a new one was fitted in 2013... well I have receipt dated 2013. I just found a receipt for a new inhibitor switch dated 2013 too. (Having just bought a new one) I have to say I'm grateful for...

    Automatic Gearbox Refit

That's a very good point. I had underestimated the involvement in having the box reconditioned. Initially I thought I would easily source a good second-hand one. But not a chance. In fact the existing box was from a low mileage v8 in good running order and as it turned out couldn't have had...

    Automatic Gearbox Refit

Thanks for that. I guess I'm just being paranoid now. My friends the mechanic and I will pass on your comments. I'm just hoping he is competent enough to get it right. This has been a long slog, the cars stripped out. We've only just fitted another diff and overhauled the rear brakes.

    Automatic Gearbox Refit

I admit I had no concept on how to flush the specifics. When I suggested using 'brake cleaner' the chap at VMTP said it would strip the gearbox. Now obviously I want to do the right thing. But why should the brake cleaner strip the gearbox (I'm generalising) as I only need to flush the cooler...

    Automatic Gearbox Refit

Thank you for your reply. Thank you for your advice on the inhibitor switch. I've actually just bought a new switch as a precaution. I recall the car would only start in Neutral. I have relied on the experience of my mechanic friend but I'm not too sure how experienced he is. The gearbox...

    Automatic Gearbox Refit

Hello, thanks for your reply. To be fair I bought the car with no reverse so I had allowed for gearbox repairs. But I had no concept of what was involved. It took three months. It turned out the gearbox needed a replacement input shaft and the planetary gears were shot because the peg broke...

    Automatic Gearbox Refit

Hello everyone can you help please? I have just had my Rover Borg Warner 35 Autobox refurbished by VMTP c/o of Wadhams. Now I’m not a mechanic and I am enlisting the help of a mechanic friend for the refit. Now before we get started the pre-fitting instructions state that the radiator and...

    My 2000SC Auto daily driver

Good evening Dave, Thanks for reply. I had a feeling it was OK and as I say the underseal looks recent so your confirmation makes me feel confident I am doing the right thing. It’s a shame the chap that did the original refurb didn’t waxoyl the inner sills as the near side needs attention...

    My 2000SC Auto daily driver

What a fantastic Rover! It looks great! Please forgive the intrusion but I notice you are using waxoyl. I wonder if you would be able to give me some advice please? My Rover P6 has been recently rebuilt. (Some areas very well others a bit disappointing) Anyway having removed the rear...

Hello again, The seats swapped back fairly easily. (But I did wonder if I was about to discover a problem) What a difference to get in and out of the car :P The number plate plynth is up the right way too. However I will have to invest in some new bolts.

    1971 3500 Auto

Hello there, Well with known production dates of Series 1's YNJ 392J must be a Series 2. There is a fusebox in the N/S Glove box area. I've posted the mentioned images. Could you please tell me the significance of the square filled in cutout on the back of the boot floor? Thanks

Thank you for the welcome. Another YNJ - Mine was registered originally in East Sussex so I guess your VW was too. With a reg of YNJ 392J the other half deceided it was telling us Your Name J 392 J 'JJ'.

    1971 3500 Auto

quote="Pilkie"]Well I though it was an early series 2 with some series 1 bits bunged on it for styling reasons when it was restored! Is fusebox in n/s glovebox? Got a pic of the bonnet slam panel above the lights? Is there a small square filled in cutout on the back of the boot floor? I will...

    1971 3500 Auto

You know I jumped in that car on the test drive and I remember thinking; "What the hells going on!" I've never experienced this in a P6 before. The salesman got in the other side at an angle and said. "I've got a bad back". It's a ludicrous mistake...

    1971 3500 Auto

That's good news indeed. Especially as I bought the car on a bit of a whim. I'd looked at so many disappointing relatively high priced P6's that when I saw this one I thought this is it. Trouble is later on as I have said earlier I felt I should have sought more advice. Power steering is...

Hello again, With the onset of winter and careful use/storage of my classic during this time I wonder if anyone had any tips for safe hibernation please. The barn I have is clean and dry and I've sealed and painted the floor. Is it worth investing in an Indoor Car Storage Carcoon? You hear...
