    Tool kit

This is the tool kit of my 2200 -74. Is there anything missing, or anything that shouldn’t be there? The yellow screwdriver seem a bit misplaced I think!?

Incorrect oil pressure; sensor or gauge?

The oil pressure gauge in my car shows too low pressure. I have measured with an external gauge and the oil pressure is fine. What is the most common cause when the gauge shows incorrect oil pressure; the gauge or the sensor?

Tie rod hit the inner wheel housing

On the right hand side the tie rod sits really close to the inner wheel house, and the tie rod hits the inner housing when suspension movement and turning at the same time (see the marks up and down in the picture). The camber seems to be negative. The top ball joints are new, and the workshop...

    Cylinder head removal

In 2015 my 2200 TC most probably dropped a valve seat (see thread Possible valve spring failure? | Classic Rover Forum). Since then the car has been sitting in my garage. I really miss the car and has now scheduled two days to remove the cylinder head, then sending it for repair. First time for...

    Manifold for 2200 TC

Anyone know where I can find a manifold (1st exhaust pipe, from engine) to a 2200 TC? A new one at a reasonable price, or a used one in good condition? Mine have cracks; have tried to weld them but they come back again.

Does anyone know what car brand and model for this old British Jaeger oil pressure gauge? It's small, only 2 inch wide.

    Possible valve spring failure?

My 2200 TC suddenly made a loud ticking noise from the upper parts of the engine, but otherwise seemed to be running okay. After lifting the valve cover I think the inner (or outer) spring for one of the valves is broken. It's difficult to see if any are broken, but it is my assumption since the...

    Torque for clutch pressure plate?

The Rover manual doesn't say anything about torgue when tightening the bolts of the pressure plate. The original lock-plates are gone and I use ordinary lock-washers and therefore I wonder if the tightening torque is more essential!?

    Need of brake servo overhaul?

I think that one, or both, of my brake slave cylinders is leaking brake fluid. For I suppose it should not come out any fluid from the vacuum hose as in the picture? Is the repair difficult?

    Changing rear crankshaft oil seal

I'll replace the rear crankshaft oil seal on my 2,2 engine, which is removed from the car. As the bell housing support plate is to be removed I can't use an engine stand or an engine crane, and I can't put the engine on the floor since the sump is to be removed. How have you others done when...

    Brake master cylinder identification?

Can anyone tell me what type of master cylinder this is (my car is a 2200 TC -74)? It doesn't look like the types in the Rover manual or in webshops, and I need to order a repair kit.

    List of torque wrench settings?

Is a list of torque wrench settings available anywhere for "all" bolts and nuts on e.g. the engine (I've seen the one at Wins)? E.g. the side plate bolts (big and small), oil cooler hoses, oil feed pipe banjo bolts, fuel pump, water pump, engine mounting brackets, etc etc?

Repair panel, base unit engine bay (right of heater unit)?

I have unfortunately found rust under the insulation in the engine bay. Is there any repair panel for this part of the base unit? Is there anything in particular to consider (since it is the base unit) before I start cutting off the bad metal?

Oil leaks, steering box and idler damper

Some questions about my steering box and idler damper which both shows signs of oil leaks. I need to remove them both because I'm about to repaint the engine bay. So I should take the opportunity to fix the leaks. Idler damper: I haven't yet checked if it is worn. The Rover manual says that it...

Does anyone have a crosslist for pressure plates and clutch plates, and in that case help me to confirm that: Borg&Beck clutch plate "53131" is the same as Sachs "X 1861 352 444", Borg&Beck pressure plate "type 8/8 1/2" is the same as Sachs "X 3082 100 142"?

Best ways to clean dirty engine parts?

What are your best tips on best and most time-efficient methods/cleaners to clean eg engine parts and brackets in steel, with ground-in dirt and oil? The same question but for aluminum? I have cleaned the engine and gearbox on my 2200 TC with petroleum based degreaser and brush, and then...

Removing the side plate on right hand side

To get access to the side plate on the right hand side, I need to remove i.e. the distributor/oil pump-section. Can I just release the three bolts in the picture below and remove the whole section as one, or do i for some reason need to take it smaller sections?

    Green paint on engine brackets

I just cleaned the engine of my car (but not finished yet), and can see remnants of green paint on the two front brackets and the distributor cover. Does anyone know if there is any name and number on this green paint? The side plates don't seem to be painted, only bare metal or silver...

    Engine removal, throttle linkage question

Step 15 in "Engine and gearbox, to remove and refit, Operation A1-3A" in the Rover manual says: "Disconnect the throttle linkage at the upper ball joint of the vertical rod. Disconnect the throttle countershaft support bracket from the steering column". Is this really necessary, especially...

Bleeding clutch slave, above or below master?

How do you do when bleeding the clutch slave? Do you leave the slave on the bellhousing, or do you loosen it from the bellhousing and raise it above the master cylinder level? With other cars I've had it has never been any problem to bleed the slave at its standard position below the master and...

When engine is removed, what repairs are not to be missed?

I will remove the engine and gearbox to repair the clutch on my 2200 TC. Can anyone give me some advice what I should take the opportunity to check and/or repair/renovate when I have this easy access to the engine bay and engine (the car worked fine before the clutch problem)? I'm planning to...

    Suddenly the clutch won't disengage

The Rover season has not started well for me this year =( The latest problem is: I have problems with the clutch on my 2200TC -74. The clutch pedal has not had any real vigor in recent 200 miles, and for about 50 miles I began to notice that the clutch is not fully released, and it became harder...

    Ignition timing problems

I have tried to adjust the ignition timing on my 2200 TC which should be 8 BTDC. If I adjust the distributor to this the engine runs very bad, but it runs good at around 15-20 BTDC. What could be the cause to this? Could it be possible that the vibration damper/pulley may have been incorrectly...
