Yes I’ve used it on my Morris 8. It came away in sheets even though I did my best efforts to prep the tank with all the other products. Won’t use sealer again….

Thanks for the replies everyone. It could be more of a clank than the chain, it’s difficult to say. When it’s started from cold it’s a similar noise, doesn’t sound unhealthy just ‘Clanky’ and the car really quietens down and loses its resonance over 70 and I can then hear it again….

Definitely, gives us time to muster strength for the next major problem!

Well, the problem was the smaller of the three wires in the wiring clip. The spade terminal had pushed up in the block and was not making a good connection if any, now have 13.7 V! Thank you everyone.

Had a quick look before work this morning, the ign bulb does not illuminate at all when the key is turned, checked the bulb and that is fine….would an issue with the alternator cause that?

Thanks guys, funnily enough I did check the earth cable and it was fairly Ropey the braids unwinding and a little tatty. I shall replace that first and see what I have. I will have to check if the ign light is illuminating, I haven’t consciously noticed it!

Hello All, Currently getting 12v on one of those cigarette lighter voltage checkers and slow indicators, alternator is about 9 years old, battery is a year old. I’m guessing the alternator is at fault, belt is tight etc. is there a better alternator nowadays than the 18acr one? many thanks.

Hello All, Whilst I sit waiting for the AA with what i suspect is a duff alternator, does anyone have any suggestions for a decent replacement, this is my 3rd reconditioned one in 10 years which seems a bit much!. 2200 sc auto. Thanks, Richard.

With the wheel on and on lock you can rock the car forward and back gently and stick your ear round there, I could see mine moving in time with the noise. Changed the pins now all good.

Try the pins going through the brake callipers and pads, I had a very low rattle type noise at low speed in rough car parks etc and it was the pins.

Drove past him today in my P6 having been to Burgess Hill to watch the ‘Old Crocks’ go by…

I have just ordered some genuine pins as I can’t remember what ones I bought when I changed pads. Will post back....

Thanks Cobraboy, pin is definitely loose in the Calliper. The pads are Greenstuff pads I fitted 5 or six years ago and they have been great, no squeal at all and brake well. Seems worse on passenger side but present on drivers side too.

The pins are actually knocking on the calliper, still trying to find how to post video....
