Power steering - rebuilding the box

Hi Peter: Did you get the box reinstalled and, if so, how did it turn out?... My power steering box needs resealing, and to be honest, after studying the shop manual and reading comments like yours i wonder about my chances (as an ok shade-tree mechanic) of doing the job successfully. Talk in...

    Gearbox Still Leaking!

Brother, I have been chasing leaking ATF for nigh on 30 years now. I've tried all the obvious and usual things at least twice... Running the motor every few days does seem to help... I read here years ago that there may have been a bad batch of casings that were inadvertently used in our nada...

    Getting back on the road

Dermot Harvey in N.Y.!! How the heck is he?? Back in the pre-internet days he was basically the only source for P6 stuff in the states (he advertised in Hemmings magazine). I've been to his place in the Hudson Valley twice - but not in a long time......

Power Steering Box Removal - Refit

Well it's five years on..... how well did that Stop Leak stuff work? My PAS box has leaked for some time, seems to have recently gotten worse. I'll do anything to not have to remove that box!

Paint Codes 1970 Rover 3500S (Federal)

Can't get much cleaner looking than that.... I don't think the emission gadgets were specific to California, all the NADAs had them... (on mine I've replaced the orig. intake system with an HIF6 set-up I imported years ago. And, I sold the originals to.... Ian Wilson (r.i.p.)

    'Wet Box'

Thank you both for your thoughtful, instructive replies. Interesting about the flawed case casting, could be the problem..... I'm actually on my second trans, the first one leaked just as much..... I've replaced most of the seals you listed, have had the mating surface on the pan machine shop...

    'Wet Box'

My Question: Does the T35 lack a check valve between the torque conv. and tranny, or what..??.. (I don't believe I've ever seen a definitive answer here..) Why does the torque converter drain back and overfill the box? Design flaw? I accept that mine will always leak; I've tried everything...

Job done and car road tested ok.... cup was binding on the serrated thingy..... fairly tough job removing rear calipers; I had adventures with the handbrake tappet and slippers, but now all seems to be well .......

    rear caliper piston doesn't retract

thanks buddy - frustrating - I really didn't need to change the pads now but figured it would be better to tackle it now while I'm still physically able to rather than 10 yrs in the future when they finally wear out....

    rear caliper piston doesn't retract

Piston will turn round and round (using a cotter pin removal tool) but doesn't seem to retract - other side did eventually (after spinning around 10 or so times...) Do both sides turn clockwise? Does it need pressure applied while turning? I can hear clicks every couple of spins..... any...
