    building the p6 factory movie

It's a great film. The first half isn't lost though, as I have the full film on DVD which I purchased from the Gaydon museum.

Agreed. I have a bog standard 2000 too, although a Series 1 version. And this one looks cracking!

Can he fix it? Yes he can!

Truly stunning work there. I can't begin to imagine the cost of this level of workmanship, but it'll produce one of the best out there. I look forward to more progess

    Paprika 2200

This has appeared on ebay: Rover P6 2200SC Great Project L@@K | eBay Interesting that it should now appear in Hampshire as I first happened upon it in Stourbridge, in store at a classic Mini workshop. When the workshop moved to Kidderminster, it too moved there as I could see it from the...

    Rocker cover gasket glue?

A fascinating thread. I had my rubber gasket fail (right by the thermostat housing with the now familiar sounding spray of oil over the carb area) which had been fitted with a black sealant of some sort which had turned to loose little wafer thin strips. We used some very fine grinding paste...

    Well-used Series 2 2000

Excellent! Another local P6 owner on the forum. On occasion, you may spot my blue Series 1 2000 driving about, but not until the diff has been off for its leaks to be fixed.

    Nice but pricey

Did all the Australian ones get the front suspension reinforcement as standard?

    Nice but pricey

Can't imagine there's much need for a heated rear window in Australia! Also wonder if the Nelson built ones differed in significant ways from the Lode Lane ones, other than colours.

    Nice but pricey

Indeed. They do give more legroom too. Also the V8 badge on the console speaker grille was deleted for this model year.

    Nice but pricey

Definitely end of 1973 for the official decrease in compression ratio. It's mentioned in the 1974 model year 3500 brochure of which I have two copies for some reason. This coincided with the final visual updates for the range with the vinyl roof and normal wheel trims becoming standard on both...

    Nice but pricey

The car certainly looks the full '74 spec, with the cloth box pleat seats and the vinyl roof and very nice it looks too. Pedant hat on though: for the 1974 model year, the compression was lowered and as such the sticker on the back window by the fuel filler should say "four star" and this one...

    Mot day

Good news regarding the pass. You are indeed correct regarding the August 1975-onwards emissions test and is one reason why I looked for a car earlier than that. The only test is for visible smoke before this date

    Rover 3500S from Austria

Great looking car! Demetris is correct, the 3500S models only had the bolt-through style hubcaps until the end of the 1973 model year at which point both manaul and auto models were made visually identical with the same hubcaps and vinyl roof. Police ones though I'm told, still used the early...

    Vinyl roof cleaner/preserver?

Auto Glym do a vinyl and rubber care spray product which simply wipes on. I use it on mine and it's commonly available from Halfords and the like and seems to produce good results. There are plenty of folk who use boot polish for a similar effect. I'm sure there are countless other...
