    Rover P6 V8 3500 Automatic – first registered 21st January 1972 Almond

I'm going to try auctioning the car on eBay starting at £2,500. Before I do, anyone here interested at that price?

Oh dear. That's what I was afraid of. Thanks for the honesty though.

BTW, the car originally had black interior. Seats were replaced by a previous owner due to v poor condition. I did intend at some stage to either replace with black or re-colour the existing which I understand is a feasible DIY undertaking.

    Rover P6 V8 3500 Automatic – first registered 21st January 1972 Almond

So gentlemen (and ladies); 107 views and not a single nibble. Is it the price? The colour? Lack of current MOT? What do I need to do to sell this car? All feedback positive or otherwise very welcome>

    Rover P6 V8 3500 Automatic – first registered 21st January 1972 Almond

Reluctantly letting this rolling restoration project go. Car is tax and MOT exempt, and just about to celebrate its 50th birthday. There’s still plenty of interesting stuff to do, as follows: Needs a professional respray. Paintwork generally poor. Panels sprayed using aerosol cans from...

Can he fix it? Yes he can!

I’m thinking of letting the car go to a new home. Not sure I can afford to finish the project. Any advice anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated. Done so far: Base unit and bulkhead repaired by Colin Gould in Q4 2017. Work documented here. De Dion tube, elbows, and rear springs...

    Front disc size on V8?

Or are they the wrong pads maybe?

    Front disc size on V8?

Local garage pointed out to me that my front pads protrude from the discs, suggesting that someone (I don't remember doing it) has fitted the wrong size disc possibly off a 2000 at some point. Is this possible?

    Hazard warning lights

Creative solution. If it fails again I’ll give that a try. Thanks

    Hazard warning lights

So here's how it (eventually) went. Disconnected battery and undid screws holding fuse box to bulkhead. Checked link between 1 and 2 behind fusebox and couldn't see anything wrong, although not exactly sure what I was looking for. Used a bit of wire to connect the top of 1 and 2 together and...

    Hazard warning lights

Just checked the wiring diagram again and the supply to fuse 2 is linked to the supply to fuse 1 which serves the horn, clock etc, all of which are working fine, so I’m suspecting that whatever links the two has failed somehow. Going to be brave and try removing the fuse box tomorrow. To avoid...

    Hazard warning lights

Unfortunately, that's what I thought too. So I suppose I'll have to start by removing the fuse box - is it a risky undertaking?

    Hazard warning lights

I’ve tried pumping the switch to no avail. Fuse number 2 on my car feeds only the hazard warning lights and does not run through the ignition switch so i thought it should be permanently live

    Hazard warning lights

Any ideas please? Hazard warning lights not working. Bought new relay from Wins. Still not working. Indicators work fine (another new relay), but if I pull the hazard switch the indicators stop working The blue/brown wire from the fuse box appears to be dead Both sides of the number 2 fuse...

    Auto box cooling pipes

Fair point. I was tempted, and actually bought some pipe from Halfords, but lost my nerve, as I wasn’t sure it was the correct bore or even whether it was suitable for hot ATF.

    Auto box cooling pipes

I got them from Wins. They’re not cheap! Plus, there’s a £15 surcharge for each pipe, refundable when you return your old end bits.

    Auto box cooling pipes

Many thanks; I'll give it a go.

    Auto box cooling pipes

I bought some new auto box cooling pipes as the old ones were spewing ATF over the bottom of the engine bay. Still got a small leak from the bottom/back one at the top union. The pipe is brand new so I'm assuming it must be the union I'm a bit nervous about over tightening the connection - is...

V8 automatic - no third gear - intermittent reverse

I thought I ought to update this thread now that gearbox is back working again. I'll try to be brief. At Harvey's suggestion I got in touch with Andy (eightofthem on this forum) with a view to obtaining a replacement box, as I was sure mine was finished. He persuaded me to try a couple of...

    New shock absorbers all round

As noted already in my reply to Dave, I really don't want to have to mess with this again, but thanks for the feedback anyway. It's amazing how creative we become when the universe is against us. . . . . .

    New shock absorbers all round

The radius arm is new(ish) fitted by Colin Gould in 2017, so should be fine. I'll have a crack at a helicoil repair - thanks. Quite frankly Dave I'm hoping I never, ever, ever have to mess with this beast ever again. Looks like you had some similar fun with yours.
