Water leak at fuel filler grommet ?

Having just gone out and looked at mine, The wire is a round ring like a circlip which holds the grommit out against the base unit hole. After removing the filler neck, remove the wire circlip which is in the bottom internal convolution which will then allow you to pull out the grommit. It may...

Petition to lower VED for cars between 20 and 40 years old

It would be at least something if they tidied up their qualifying periods for MOT and road tax exemptions. Before anyone says anything, I know it still needs tax, but it's zero rated. MOT is 40 yr anniversary from first registration, however tax is from April the following year. I've just...

Water leak at fuel filler grommet ?

My mistake it may not be lower, but I've had the fixing stud leak. Just something to check. Have a couple of pics to show its location, there's usually sealant of some sort under the top nut. - Although the right side, this shows how far forward it is (angled brace on right out of shot)...

Water leak at fuel filler grommet ?

The other thing to check is that the forward fixing stud for the decker panel in not letting water past, because that is lower than the filler hole in the base unit.

P4 was misfiring a bit and now won't start

Make sure you get good fuel hose (cohline) from a reputable source (ie. not off ebay, too much counterfeit stuff about). You need J30 R9/10 spec (R9 for external, R10 for internal or submerged). I get mine from - Classic Microcars / AJL Electronics Gloucester Get the stainless hose clips...

Brake Servo rubber hose - replacement

P4 was misfiring a bit and now won't start

The filter should go after the sedimenter bowl, the sedimenter bowl takes out the larger pieces and any water, and the filter then takes out the fines. A clean up of the fuel system would be a good idea if for no more than piece of mind. The fuel reserve is obtained by the use of two pumps...

The Otter switch is the triangular switch on the inlet manifold. The most likely biggest hurdle will be the bolts that hold it in shearing off.

Brake Servo rubber hose - replacement

Presumably you know to use vacuum hose and not ordinary hose? Vacuum hose is braced against collapsing, whereas ordinary stuff isn't.

    Engine wont rev above 3000rpm

Is this lack of power a new thing? Has it been better previously? Those compression readings do seem a bit low, is it a low compression engine? What's the engine number? Have you had the carbs off the manifold? Is there a restrictor in the manifold? Colin

    Oil pickup changes

The deep part or well of the sump on P6b is in the middle of the sump, the well on the SD1 is at the rear. There will be more leverage from the pick up screen because the pick up pipe is longer. It's probably done to alleviate any fatigue in it. If you're worried, fabricate a brace from a main...

Differential removal - is workshop manual correct ?

'Lower port'? It is usual, but I would agree it's questionable, so that it's easier to access. However, I would be tempted to pipe it to somewhere even easier, that way you can swap them over.

Differential removal - is workshop manual correct ?

Replace the brake pipes while it's out, it's a lot easier on the floor than when it's in the car. ;)

    P6 Pinion and rack PAS

I can see that he intends to use two idler arms so the rack will go across by the bulkhead. He needs a rack from a car that has it mounted in front of the front axle line.
