Thanks for all the replies. I think I’ll carry on as I started, and as I did in my old Jaguar XJ6 with an aluminium head, and just use super unleaded without any additives. If I come into any trouble, well the worst that happens is the head gets rebuilt better than new with even harder valve...

I personally don’t think an aluminium head would require lead replacement either, and the lack of posts about V8 valve recession on this forum probably confirms that. But I’ll err on the side of caution I think, as there is definitely debate about it and it’s only a few pence extra per litre...

Thanks Harvey. I think it’s just the peace of mind that makes an “additive” worth it, but Tetraboost definitely stands out as it’s not really an additive. I’ve always said aluminium heads don’t need additives, but I’ve never owned a car this nice so I think I’ll eat my own words now! :LOL:

I didn't want to be too rough with it having not bought the car at the time of viewing, but I suspect it might just be a bit stiff. I did think Rover would've designed it with more travel, especially as there tended to be more shorter people around back then! ;) I'll do some investigating when...

Thanks for the replies. If worst comes to the worst I can drive it as is (I probably sit too far forward usually anyway), but just a fraction further forward would make a great difference. I’ll check the runner, maybe it hasn’t been that far forward in 47 years so has got a bit stiff!

I didn’t realise the pedal heights are adjustable - I presume the steering wheel position is adjustable too then? I think if the seat went further forward I probably wouldn’t be able to make use of the door mirrors, so I imagine the pedals are at their lowest position. I’ll definitely be getting...
