Yellow headlights on my P6, would it work ?

They do look really nice, especially with the car being Mexico Brown. How does the brightness at night compare to the white headlights? best, marco.

Starter motor M45G with solenoid of 3M100?

I had some time finally to have a look at the P6. Check the ground of battery, startermotor, solenoid, engine, relay and cleaned every connector and contact at the ignition switch. The oil-light stays on now (!), but the startermotor still engages only 3 times out of 4. I then followed the...

Starter motor M45G with solenoid of 3M100?

Aha! Thanks again for your explanation! Okay, i'll try to remove the screws and hopefully the switch will come out in its entirety. Is there something to clean there, or just replace? The photos are visible (with watermark), i just have tried (i think) to open the same topic, but couldn't see...

Starter motor M45G with solenoid of 3M100?

Thanks! This helps a lot to understand the thing! Tried to view your page yesterday, but the photographs didn't show...? Does the lock mechanism have to be removed, or does this just help to get the switch out in its entirety? And another question: did you prise it out because you couldn't...

Starter motor M45G with solenoid of 3M100?

Oh, no. I usually try to solve everything with brute force... I'll try to be as unexcited and careful as possible... My fine motor skills aren't what they used to be. In my case, when turning the key when the oil-light didn't light up: the startermotor jumps, doesn't catch (but...

Starter motor M45G with solenoid of 3M100?

Hi Colin, Ron, thanks! Is this something that can be tested and repaired, or will the small springs and contacts go flying all over the place? ;) According to the WM i would have to remove glovebox and steering column to get to the ignition switch? How to hotwire the leads i really have no...

Starter motor M45G with solenoid of 3M100?

Thanks all for your suggestions! I have been cautious to not too often chew at the flywheel but make sure to check when i remove the startermotor eventually. The company suggested to check if the pinion flies outward fully, and if not: there should be a screw to adjust the position of the pinion...

Starter motor M45G with solenoid of 3M100?

Yes, fresh back from them... A bit of a bummer when i turned the ignition over. I always hope things work perfectly, immediately! I already have e-mailed them what it could possibly be. I wouldn't suppose the flywheel is a factor (or: this has never been the case before), but will...

Starter motor M45G with solenoid of 3M100?

Ron: the startermotor is my own, a M45G that has been rebuilt a month ago. Whén it worked, the pinion never was an issue. Could it be that when not receiving the full 12V that the pinion gear doesn't fling out to the full extent? JP: you are right, i meant the pinion... Language... I'll take it...

Starter motor M45G with solenoid of 3M100?

Today i had time at last to put the revised startermotor back. Unfortunately it sometimes turns over the engine and starts the car, but more often makes a screeching noise and then the whirring of the rotating starter motor. :( Could this mean that the bendix doesn't get out far enough or long...

Starter motor M45G with solenoid of 3M100?

I contacted them, will be shipping my starter motor to the UK. Hope they can repair it!

Starter motor M45G with solenoid of 3M100?

Thanks! I'll contact them to check if they would want to repair/rebuild in stead of exchange as well. I contacted a few firms in BE, but none that i really trust with this, and they charge from 150 euro to unknown... best regards, marco.

Starter motor M45G with solenoid of 3M100?

Hi Ron, thanks for your reassuring answer with regard to the found mix! A starter motor for exchange i can only get via UK, i live in Belgium... There are a few electricians relatively nearby who say they can revise the starter and solenoid, but they looked for a replacement (new) first. Made...

Starter motor M45G with solenoid of 3M100?

Hi all, fixing the earth of the solenoid (see other "car doesn't start" topic) wasn't a lasting solution: my car stopped starting again. I measured (bought a mmeter!) continuity between S and M that shouldn't be there (thanks startersolenoid.net) so removed my startermotor. I then saw...

And now my car won't start...

SOLVED. as i measured resistance on the solenoid i checked the earth connection from solenoid to startermotor-house again, cleaned it and sprayed it with contactspray. This solved the issue: faulty earth of the solenoid. Thanks again all for the suggestions (i have sure learned a lot searching).

And now my car won't start...

So: i did. Interesting purchase! With help of your suggestions and the interwebs have learned the following: - battery is okay: 12,4V - large terminal on solenoid is permanent 12,4 V - engine earth is okay: 0V - white/yellow connector on the solenoid is the one that becomes live. Only: between...

i don't. Might be a right time to purchase one and learn how to use it.

And now my car won't start...

Hi Harvey, i'm sorry for having not much of an idea what i'm doing, my expertise lies elsewhere unfortunately. I've read the posts on this forum concerning this topic, but didn't get very far... The step-by-step is annoying i'm sure, but i do need it. I'll check the supply to the wires and...

And now my car won't start...

Hey Harvey, i'll check this for sure, but what is weird: the car started perfectly for the fist few months, and then stopped gradually over the last week... More tomorrow. ;)

And now my car won't start...

Hi Harvey, unfortunately i again don't understand exactly what you suggest: if i remove the wires (white/yellow and blue), how do i see which one becomes live when key is in start? With test light again, connecting through the ligt the spade and the earth on the solenoid (no 3 on my photograph...

Hi All, the last test doesn't give anyone a clue what the problem could be? I (but you will already have guessed) have abolutely no idea... Thanks!

And now my car won't start...

I just hotwired the blue connector with the battery (1 and 3 on my first photograph): only a slight buzzing sound in the solenoid, nothing more. Same thing as when the ignition is turned to "start", only then the hotwiring wil increase the buzzing a tiny bit. Does this tell you anything? Take...

And now my car won't start...

The headlights don't go out but weaken a bit. I have tried to start with a jumpstart lead on saturday: nothing also: just the clicking sound of the relay and the humming of the fuelpump (i think).

And now my car won't start...

Hi Harvey, checked the connector(s): the dodgy blue one gave supply for the test light (although pretty weak compared directly to + and - on battery), the white-brown wire did nothing. So blue is the one to wire hot. I followed both of them through the engine-bay and ended up at the fusebox...

And now my car won't start...

Hi Harvey, Thanks again! Every suggestion or answer results in a new question! To be honest: i haven't checked if the testlight lights up when the ignition is nót in start. I'll check that first. What if it does light up when not in start? And the second question: i thought that the blue...
