Boot prop rod or measurements needed

have you lost the rod or is that how far you are up to installing the boot kit? the rod itself is simple but there is a plastic wheel at one end that runs in the slot in the inner guard and there is a plastic clip at the other which clips the rod onto the boot lid or the boot inside depending...

Any Aussies have this bracket for sale...?

II'm pretty sure I have one. Have a look here. Linkage Parts - SU Carburetters for making up the linkages. note the uni joint in the standard system and the rubber that the rod rotates in. They are both important to allow for engine movement without throttle movement.

    suddenly a rough running engine

Have a look along the loom. There is usually at least one extra wire and terminal which is 12v and switched through the ignition. Its for accessories. Yes the two wires that join together are the 12v starter wire and the 7/9 volt wire. The 12v wire only comes in when cranking so you can't use...

Find your P6's base unit number:

There is another number stamped in the same place but toward the centre buried under the paint. From memory they don't match.

Check the bolts that hold the idler damper on as well. they can work loose over time.

    Engine parts

the Landy sixes were sold into the early eighties. The late seventies ones had some modern features added like electronic distributor and thermatic fans. er generally bottom end bearings are replaced with undersize ones, as the pins get smaller when they are reground...I have quite few parts for...

    Suspension Failure

One more point... There aren't any nuts because there isn't any room to put them on. The holes are too close to the tube. Personally I'd shorten the screws so they end at the hole edge or slightly inside as crud on the thread will cause them to seize on removal and being small they may snap.

    Suspension Failure

There should be Two studs, however quite often the stud and nut come out together as if they are a set screw. Hence when you bought the elbow it was missing one. Standard bolt are Grade five high tensile. If you look at the top of the head they should have three raised lines pointing in a star...

    V8 Fuel starvation

The main fuel pipe in the tank is an open ended tube about three inches above the bottom. The Reserve feeds from the bottom but has fine screen on it to keep the crap out. So even if you have crud coming back through the return it is unlikely that it'll do more thean swish around the bottom of...

    V8 Fuel starvation

If you ran the car dry and didn't push the reserve tap back in after putting 40 litres into her; You would still need to wait some time for the electric pump (I'm assuming its the factory setup) to prime both the fuel bowls before cranking it over. You need to wait till the ticking just about...

    Decent air compressor manifolds

or make one up from a bunch of brass fittings. serious hardware and tool shops normally carry a wall of various bends and stuff for just such situations.

    Woodrim Steering Wheel

did you use a standard black leather wheel and chrome it or the fake wood one with polished stainless spokes? I seem to recall some have a square steel ring and others are round steel?

    Ignition timing scatter

spark scatter is seldom due to springs or weights. most often it is deteriorating leads and/or plugs. some "restorer"s wipe the grease off the cam which will cause the cam to wear and if their is no oil lower down below the points plate, the bearing in between the top and bottom halves of the...

    Lightweight aluminium Drive shafts

they seem to be about 1/4" thick alloy as opposed to about 1/32 for a commercial steel one. Sonnax appear to make all the bits required including the sliding joint. I'll have to go see one in the flesh...

    Lightweight aluminium Drive shafts

Mustang shafts were where I started. Dana and others make a large range of components in alloy. pricing is around$700USD. I've already got stage 2 heads and cam plus custom straight through 2.5" exhaust and headers. My Rostyles are each 8.5 Kg instead of the factory 20 odd. Alloy axles would...

    Lightweight aluminium Drive shafts

Has anyone tried to have one made for the P6? I'm looking into it as according to my rough calculations the dynamic weight saving would be around 150 kg as it's a major rotating member. Also looking at the axle shafts.

    Curved V8 Bonnet Badge

the P6 Mk II badges are actually pretty well flat with the two studs. The SD1 badge is slightly curved and sticks on. You can use them on a P6 but the middle of the back is raised up so youhave to fill the edges. The ROVER writing is also thicker on the later badge. I think Ian Wilson arranged...

brakes need lots of pressure and engine running a bit rough.

I've got them at Repco and other parts shops in the past. the same seals are used in a few different cars. You do need to get some one who will search the stock though...I have them but the box is currently too deep to get at. i'm taking a load of household stuff up to the new shed tomorrow and...

brakes need lots of pressure and engine running a bit rough.

that is the main cheaper fix I was thinking of. I'm afraid i'm still not well enough to travel but I will get into the storage and see what i can post up. there are two valves on the same shaft one either side of the white plastic disc, passing through the middle of it. Normally it is the lower...

brakes need lots of pressure and engine running a bit rough.

Hi peter, I think i still have a spare unit and some kits here. I've just bought a place up at Bulahdelah and should get up there this coming weekend. I'm crook at the moment. I could come by and have alook at it as there are a few cheaper fixes than a complete rebuild. I'll see what i have as i...

Wanted V8 diff spider gear that takes input shaft

The last type of output shaft (from F series diffs) is significantly better than the early ones the spline design was much improved. Mark, there are three types of diff centre with different numbers of bolts holding the ring gear on. so they are not interchangable. Read the manual to identify...
