rover 2000 wiring diagram with alternator

My super old Haynes book which came with the car does not have wiring diagrams for alternator cars. Sounds about right? Anyone know where I can get hold of one? Our car is 1971 2000SC. Got a couple of minor niggles and a diagram would be very useful.

    Ignition warning light relay

Think so, the wires look long enough on the new gizmatroid and loads of room up around the flasher units to sit the new relay. Let you know if it does. Going to have a good look round the autojumble guys at the Ripon show for an original one first.

    Ignition warning light relay

Cheers for that. Was thinking of the option of replacing with ACR type alternator but with so many relays and control boxes would be a PITA, so think I will probably stick with the current system and get one of these relays till the 11AC gives up. Looks pretty new though, as if someone has...

    Ignition warning light relay

Anyone know the part number and source of the electronic type replacement for the daft 3AW flasher unit lookalike relay for the warning light on '71 2000? Got plenty of charge just the light doesn't go out so assume this is the problem from reading other posts? Previous owner had just removed...

    Auto gearbox oil

As the guy above said, engine oils these days are a nightmare. We used to stock around 4 grades a few years back, now it's 14 and we don't have half of them. According to the oil reps it's mainly the diesel oils which are different depending how dirty the motor is. Mercs and Fords are really...

    Auto gearbox oil

Hi all, just had the old green goddess on the lift and fastened the sump on the auto box. No wonder we had a leak, all bolts a full turn loose. Seems to have cured it now and we have a good layer of rust protection on the floor pan behind the box!! Previous owner must have kept it topped up...

    Hi from the Yorkshire Dales

Car was very cheap and yes I do have a workshop though I'm retired. Paintwork is rubbish but it has cut and buffed not too bad for now. Drives very well. Steering felt a bit wayward, but after checking tyre pressures and finding the fronts at 48psi, think that may have been the reason for the...

    Chain rattle I think?

As we used to say years ago, when our now classic cars were the everyday cars, if you hear a noise you don't like, turn up the radio a bit!

    Ripon car show July 28

Anyone attending the Ripon car show this month? Large event with plenty of room and lots of cars, autojumble and trade stands. Only £3 pre booked or I think a fiver on the day. Well worth a visit if you are anywhere near.

    Chain rattle I think?

Thanks, that's good to hear. I'm old enough to have worked on a lot of old Minis and other A series engines with the single row timing chains which rattled from just about new. This sounds very similar and goes away will very little throttle. Will leave it alone and get on with enjoying driving...

    Chain rattle I think?

Hi all, have just bought a 1971 2000sc and have had a good look over the car, changed oil and filter, checked levels etc. Have read on here somewhere the timing chains jangle a bit on idle. Think it was a Harvey post? Have checked through the filler neck and the top chain is fine and the...

    Hi from the Yorkshire Dales

Rob or Bob, I've been called worse! Just bought a 2000SC automatic, unseen and wish I had. Never mind was cheap as chips. Purports to have only done 67k miles with old MOT's. Cameron Green, or so it says on the label. Has had sills, floor repair new wings, valances, bumper bars and a rubbish...
