    RWT363K - now BRV3500H

Well done on the LT77 install, makes it a lot more civilised at speed. Personally, I would fix the blow first, then wrap it if you need to. You don't want any exhaust fumes getting into the car. Richard

    Engine removal

If you're removing the gearbox as well, it's easier to get the back of the car up in the air a bit, and don't forget to remove the engine earth strap ;)

    Ceramic Coating

When I bought my car it had a pair of stainless thin wall headers which made the engine compartment very hot, and I mean very hot. I had those headers ceramic coated, inside and out. I also had the y piece, coated on the outside. The heat problem went away. Are your headers standard?

    V8 exhaust silencer

I did have two, but one had to go as it was in the way of the diff. To be honest, it's not much louder than it was with two. Richard

    Brake shield removal

Sparky didn't have any when I bought him, but I found a pair on ebay. This is when I discovered there were two types, one where the single fixing (Apart from the two caliper bolts) was a captive nut on the shield, and the other where there is just a hole in the shield and a thread in the hub...

    suddenly a rough running engine

Just an idea, but I had a bearing go on my dizzy once. The the central shaft would wobble around, so the rotor arm would be too far away from the cap at times. Have you tried catching hold of the rotor arm and trying to wiggle it about? Richard

    Lights Camera Action!

Hi Phil I don't know but I know how to find out. Measure all the way round the flywheel and then divide by 90. That distance will be the distance from TDC to 4 degrees. Simply divide by 60 to get the 6 degree mark. Richard

    Hello from Merseyside

Very nice. If you're going from a VW camper to a P6B, you might want to read up on speed camera locations ;) Have you got two P6s? Richard

    P4 and P5

Nice to go for a little burble about and come up behind a very nice P4 on the Old Wortley Road in Rotherham, then on the way back, again in Rotherham, a P5 coming towards me. There was lots of waving :) Shame I had lost my dash cam, but nice to see them. When at Hawleys, the tyre and exhaust...

    Sparky's winter/spring/summer/autumn work

Cheers Mark, but I am not draining the tank again  The bit that broke up was some 12mm braided stuff from t'internet. It was just to connect the 12mm feed from the sender, to the new in-line pump. It wasn't under any pressure so I just got what I could at the right size. There does...

    Sparky's winter/spring/summer/autumn work

Been busy today I have been googling noisy fuel pumps, checking my work, and have come up with a few possibilities, some more possible than others. I drained the tank - again - and the fuel looked pretty much ok. The bottle in the backround was from the last time I drained it. Google...

Is the swirl pot pressurised then? I've never used one so don't know why I need one or what they do. Richard

    Sparky's winter/spring/summer/autumn work

Appreciate the input Mark :) I am actually more than happy with the way it's turned out, but to be honest, the only part of it with any concern is the stay bars. They are mounted as far back as I could get them but if they show any problems during testing, I will look at remaking the lower box...

    Sparky's winter/spring/summer/autumn work

Don't panic, all is not as it seems :) I have completed some quite hard launches, but with the car outside the camera adjusts to the extra light so you can't see the diff as well. I have managed to break the back end loose and accelerate with the back wheels spinning, and off at an angle :D...

    Sparky's winter/spring/summer/autumn work

Hmmmm..... Been on the M1, at 70mph, :). Everything seems fine, but the fuel pump is very noisy. For reasons more complicated than interesting, I have removed the in-tank pump and fitted an in-line fuel pump instead. Flick the ignition on and it buzzes away happily (and quietly) for a second...

    suddenly a rough running engine

Q:- when accelerator linkage moved, should the slides move up? Not on their own, no. The linkage moves a throttle butterfly, and the slides go up and down due to vacuum pressure, so they are not directly linked. Q:- how can it spark and the exhaust be cold? It will only fire if the fuel is...

    Some encouragement and advice needed!

No idea, twas a long time ago :) I do remember one of them was so bad that the plate had rotted through meaning the shock was only hanging from the top, so a fair bit of rust there, and some very interesting handling. You'll probably get the nylon bushes, which wear on the sides allowing the...

Must be me then  I've had them snap on two cars, but I have driven some rust buckets in my time.
