    Retirement project

I bought mine on ebay, sight unseen. It did have bills for £6,500 for the engine alone, and cost me less than half of that, so I wasn't particularly bothered when it was rusty. The advert said it wasn't rusty at all, but come on, it was a car from the 1970s and I kinda expected it.

    Advice on rust P6 3500

I doubt very much that you'll find a rust free example, as these cars did rust rather well and even the late ones are pretty much 45 years old now. This is the box you need to look into

    Advice on rust P6 3500

The recess between the pressed bit under the seat and the sill is where the problems tend to occur. You need to see down into that hole.

    finding a new cotter pin?

Might be worth a few phone calls to any specialist component rebuilders, e.g. a company that rebuilds rover steering boxes. I don't know these people, but they do mention Rover P6s - CNC Machining - Classic Car Parts - Remanufacture - UK

    finding a new cotter pin?

My mistake, I thought you were looking for a split pin. 'Cotter pin' seems to cover a few different items, including as you say, split pins, roll pins and even clevis pins. Do you know what size you are after? I can't see your attachment btw

    Split Ambla

hmmmm... bonding old vinyl is not likely to work too well. You could try unstitching it, bonding a patch over it from below using a nitrile adhesive such as Bostik 1782, then letting it cure fully (3 or 4 days) then stitch it back together. Might work, but personally I would get your upholsterer...

    Ballist Resistor location 2000TC

I'm not saying I am correct, but it may be worth a call to Mark Grey to check it's ok to connect your coil up to it.

    Ballist Resistor location 2000TC

I may be getting confused but I have a ballast resistor behind my instrument panel which is connected up in conjunction with a rheostat and is used to dim my dashboard lights.

    Advice on rust P6 3500

I used this stuff - Soudal Butyrub butyl sealant Black or White Caravan | eBay Sealed the roof on with it, sealed around the rear screen (where you have the problem) and used it on the front and rear of the doors where the little sealing rubbers has disappeared. Stays soft underneath but will...

    Well that's different.....

At full WOT there will be very little vacuum to pull gasses out, and if your engine is not in absolute tip top condition, there may be more blow past than the vacuum can handle so it is possible to get the gasses leaving the crankcase through the inlet - (the little red filter in my picture)

    Sparky's winter/spring/summer/autumn work

I do remember the see saw set up you used but couldn't find it - thought it may offer a bit of inspiration. I haven't driven it much with this system as I don't think I am allowed to go out with it now :hmm: The old system was stiff and not too responsive, basically akin to having a bath sponge...
