Oily, dirty, happy

That took a while......decided to carefully go over the underside, scrape any loose undercoat, hammerite any surface rust, then underseal. Dinitrol into all the hollow places, and in behind the sill covers. The original underseal was remarkably good, and any corrosion was minor, hoping I got in top of it in time. I won't rust either, as I am covered in oily stuff! Not hugely pleasant job, but very satisfying all the same

Yep, seems the sills are totally original Phil. Having owned MGs in the past, I am used to the idea of two types of sill, either fully replaced or needing fully replaced, so the Rover is a bit of a novelty, in that they aren't replaced and don't need to be. That and the ability to remove the outer panel without recourse to a grinder and cutting disc gives me great pleasure, and finding solid metal underneath even more so

Smashing Mick. I'm doing the interior today, second application. I was watching a guy in the States and picked up a few tips. 20 squirts of a well known upholstery stain remover, one cap full pf the same brand carpet shampoo, half cap full of green multi purpose disinfectant, into a good spray bottle. Filled with lukewarm water. One at a time, seat and carpet, give it a good soaking, leave for 30 mins, old vacuum cleaner for the excess wet, then wipe with absorbent kitchen roll until most of the wet has gone. A layer of dirt you wont believe. Windows open heater on in garage. Bonus, look at the black trim around the handbrake. Do everything! Door cards. rubber dash mat, those black side panels if you have them all stunning.

Brian, for vinyl trim, leather, I use an aerosol called Lord Sheraton, smell of marzipan a little, oils keep leather soft, but found it really good for cleaning vinyl and plastics. And only three quid a can, worth a try out. Nice to have the insides clean, I did have but combination of working on the car and driving it has out put paid to that.
You seats are like new, very nice indeed

Sorry to hijack your Dirt thread Mick. Remember that lovely clean driver's seat yesterday?

I wish I had video'd this. This one was a wee bit worse than the others, so I upped the dosage of ingredients and one hour soaking time. Bloody filthy.
