2 x 6 Cylinder Rover 100 Engines going begging in Essex

I've scant detail on these. I'm of a Land rover persuasion, and joined on here to find a home for these... I was speaking to a bloke in Maldon charged with clearing a garage and garden for the wife of a deceased collector of Rover 100s. I'm told there's two engines, I'd guess these are hard to find. Not seen them myslelf, I'm assuming P4 sixers, definitely from a Rover P4 and not any Austin Metro Rover 100

Happier to see them find a good home, he seems happy to take a drink rather than see these go to scrap. When I have more firmed-up info I'll post here. If these are for you, or you know anyone that would make these a good home, make yourself known. I'll put you in contact, you'd be expected to collect in Maldon.

Thanks, can't say i know too much about 'non-Series' Rover. Sorry, seems this board has a P6 bias, thus is the wrong place? Getting on here was enough hassle... one of you must be flitting between these forums, thus have access to the 'right' place. Somebody is screaming for these or parts from them. - these are not mine, just junk to me.

I want to see them sat in the right palce to be passed-on to whoever can use 'em. I don't think the LR community will take them. Can you spread the word, else these WILL go to scrap. That'd be a crime.

They could be put on the Rover Sports Register for sale section, or donated to the club stores .No need to log into anything . Just post it to the contact address Rover Sports Register (thersr.co.uk)

Thanks - It only took a minute.... They HAVE BEEN put on the Rover Sports Register for sale section, and offered for donation to the club stores. No need to log into anything we've already done it. The information is now in the right place.

We've got the information, we’ve posted your link.

I go on the P4 sites too. Link on there also. You need do no more.

Thanks Derek, you're going to DO something.... you're not some 'ineffectual', because of you these won't got to scrap. You're a champ.

Pleased 'tonys' has nudged this along. These must be kept in the classic community somewhere. Your good deed for the day, well done.

Numerous attempts to get this on 'Rover P4 Drivers Guild' site fail.

What with attempts to register on Classic Rover 'car' sites over my usual four-wheel drive haunts, I'd never have believed how hard it is to even pass this info on... I wouldn't mind but aside from just about knowing what one looks like, (I've always fancied a P5 V8 Coupe?) I wouldn't truly know a P4.P5 or 6 if it bit me. I'm only trying to ensure these engines are kept 'alive' - I don't move in these circles. Thus for those of you that do, if there's anywhere else the info should be posted, please do the necessary.

A reply that reads, "This needs to be posted on the 'blah' - I've just done it, see here..." would be great. Thanks

Have you tried listing them on Land Rover Series 6 cylinder Facebook groups? The P4 engine and Land Rover engines are very similar. Some of the P4 engines, those with twin carbs, or the Weslake heads offer a useful upgrade over the Land Rover originals. I’ve posted the link to the one I’m in.

I get between 20 and 120 (quite rare to get 120 but somedays I do) applications to join this forum a day, yes every day. Most of these are advertisers just looking to SPAM us, trouble makers and others who are just plain disgusting. To stop people on here getting a torrent of links posted on where to buy cheap sunglasses, drugs, bitcoin news, best place to get your mortgage or porn sites, it is important to stop the spammers getting in.

This can have the effect of making it a hassle to get on here but it is necessary and not the fault of the forums, but rather the internet itself.

Richard

I've just posted the info. on the Rover P5 forum as well (the old big 3-litre used a version of that engine; P4 was the even older 'Auntie' Rover, P5B was the V8 engine in the old 3-litre body)

Please 'quattro', I wasn't bitchin'.... I'm pretty tech. savvie, I appreciate why a big part of a forum admin's job is dealing with the boll*x you inevitably get. In all praise, you have to be dong your job about right, becuase this site was relatively easy to get reg'd to, hence I'm here.

Thanks 'tonys' you've clearly grabbed this one. I don't move in these circles, I doubt I could get registered easily, and clearly you appreciate I didn't know that forum existed anyway.

'tonys' and 'Tom W' clearly get this.... If you on this or that site/forum, please.... these engines are not yours or mine, there's nothing in this for any of us, all we're trying to do here is save 2 x engines from the scrap pile. `i was hoping a few more than just 'tonys' / 'Tom W' would take the baton and run with it to whereever the info needs to be. If anyone will take them, over melted-down, happy to see them go.
