I had an odd thing happen on Sunday. In the morning on the farcebook P6 page, l noticed Paul Dodd had suffered a shattered windscreen in his P6, on the A127 on the way to a show (Brown Sundym apparently). Later on l was at my workshop (not far from there) & had to move a few windscreens to get the replacement engine for my Morris Oxford out & ready to be inserted into the car in a few weeks time. While moving a green Sundym front screen destined for Bruiser, it put me in mind of Paul's morning mishap. Just as l thought of it, and with a loud pop the bl**dy thing simply exploded in my hands, out of telepathic sympathy perhaps. The corners of toughened screens are vulnerable & I was lowering it but l don't think it was touching anything to set it off. It really went off though & the glass spread over quite a wide area. Luckily I got away with one very small cut.
I bought a set of Sundym from Clive on here for Bruiser & with the screen & the rear quarterlight l also managed to break in the clear-up, l have a bit less glass sitting around now for the job. I may have access to a replacement screen, l'll have to phone a friend.
It happened once before to a P5 screen l had on a shelf. I walked into the garage one day & there was shattered glass everywhere. This screen had also gone while it was simply sitting on the shelf it had been on for quite some time in the locked garage, spreading glass & putting several chips in the bonnet of my P5B in the process.
Unpredictable stuff, toughened glass.
