Regretful Sale. QLD AUS.

Thanks mate. I'm not one for whinging but lets just say it's not a decision I've taken lightly, but the funds are needed more than the toy.

Yes, just had notification that the rent on the local lock-up l keep my A60 estate in is being increased by 150%, so that's going. It was peppercorn rent though so the new letting agent has obviously informed the owner he can get a lot more for them & they're not wrong either. I often thought we were on borrowed time.
I really don't have time to keep all my projects on the boil so next month l'm sending the Oxford up to one of the club specialists to perform some much needed TLC & a modification or two to get her back on the road as come next year she should be a running workhorse for my wife's vintage business for visiting shows & festivals. Much better than turning up in a nondescript white van.
It puts more pressure on the storage aspect of things though & makes a bit of rationalisation even more pressing than it was. It's tough letting go though as l had a nice few years using Auntie as my daily but l don't want her dying through neglect in my custodianship so have contacted an interested party l know who's chief passion is the P4.

FWIW If you are in a proper legal rental agreement for the garage I think you will find that no Landlord can put up the rent by 150 %. Rental increases have to be at the rate of inflation or less. Regardless 150 % of a peppercorn is only a bit bigger peppercorn, still should be peanuts ! :);)

Interesting but l'm not sure l could be bothered to get all legal on their derrière's. Life's too short even if l could do with keeping the garage. There probably is a legal standing though as we've had six lock-ups there over the last twenty years & there is paperwork floating about.

Mind you, l like to scrap with 'authority' now & again so if you have a link to somewhere that confirms that law with lock-ups rather than flats & houses then l'd certainly consider bringing it to their attention.

FYI, the rent is jumping from £40 PCM to £100, which added to my main workshop & other expenses is an increase too far & l might be able to sort something out at the main gaff.

All good - hijack away!
Got one gentleman arriving this afternoon to inspect. Two more on the weekend. The thing I like about selling a Rover compared to other cars I've sold is the class of applicant. They can enunciate!

Well applicant 1 inspected yesterday. Lovely chap but he's not going to buy the car. Applicant 2 should be dropping by on the weekend, perhaps. Who knows, if I can budget right I may be able to just mothball her until better times......
.....and then throw an LS1 innit......
