If anyone has four Magstar wheels or knows anyone who has a set that might be persuaded to part with them,m please can you let me know?

I am on facebook. Ycu can Whatsapp or Messenger them too if you prefer? What info do you need from me?

Hello

I have four. In good to excellent condition, and I recently repainted them as I wanted to sell them. I just never got round to buying the centers but those are easy enough to get hold of I reckon. I am in San Diego.

I lost a center cap and my mate kindly whipped a replacement up on his little lathe. He refinished the three I still had, and I couldn't tell them apart. Talented chap. What I would very much like would be the correct Rover badges to fit the Magstar center caps! Larger than Rostyle or 'S' trim badges. Readies waiting for four of those!

I now have my Magstars thanks to Joseph! Top man!!!So my next question is about refurbishment. I plan to get them professionally done but I am not sure about the colour. I believe they were black originally, but gloss or satin? I actually quite fancy a very dark gunmetal grey too. There is a new alloy version like this no available in the states, not in P6 size sadly. Any views??Capture111.JPG

I had mine refinished in a dark grey metallic with a clearcoat. They look much better than black, which vanishes inside large sidewall tyres making the wheels look much smaller than they really are. Shame mine haven't got shiny chrome rims. Do whatever you like. Let me know if you find wheel locking nuts that don't look like a socket, like the ones that came with my wheels!

Keynsham1, I must caution you, DON'T fit chrome trim rings! They rattle and squeak, making a hell of a noise, over even the slightest uneven surfaces. The teeth that hold them in place will immediately and irrevocably scratch your new powder coat finish. Certainly that is what happened with mine. You could try adding a silver stripe on the lip near the outer edge of the rims, for an additional accent, and to help prevent the black wheels looking a bit lost in the big sidewall tyres our cars take. Personally I like the style of tyres with thin white stripes, but the Vredestein Sprint Classics with white stripes are three times more expensive than plain black ones, and I couldn't justify the extra expense, nor afford it!

My magstars which came with my NADA were gloss black rim / centre part a gun metal colour metal itself.
I've restored mine to the same colour.

On the previous set of these wheels I had, I did have push on trims and I had no problems at all. They certainly didn't rattle! But those wheels were painted by me so scratching the paint really didn't matter. Having had a look at the MrWhitewall link above, I am now thinking about having the wheels as they are and a gold band put on the tyres. I believe the NADA cars had gold, not white bands when they were new anyway so that would be OK. Also, I can use 185R14 tyres instead of the 195/75R14 ones that the white bands always come. This might give me a better chance of avoiding the rear wheels rubbing on the wheel arches as the Magstars tend to do.
