P6B auto to Manual questions

Have seen a post that says the info is here somewhere, but cant find it so far. Planning on putting a 3.9 (1988+) in P6B, converting auto to manual (R380). Have previously replaced a 4 speed manual with a 5 speed LT77, which was pretty easy - rear gearbox mount being main issue. I need some help with how to fit a clutch pedal and master cyl in an auto car body please. Manual cars are VERY thin on the ground in Oz now, so a tired auto is about the only option....
Engine is complete with injection and loom, but unsure whether to use that, or go to carbs.

Edit:-
Also being offered an R380 box out of an SD1 2600 - does anybody know if the primary pinion length will also mate with a V8 clutch? Depth of a 2600 bellhousing would be useful info. V8 bellhousing depth is reported as 185mm- engine face to gearbox face.
thanks

Previously P2, P3, P4s, 2xP6 TC, P6B S, 2xSD1 Mans, 2 door rangie, 2x Disco..

you can swap auto and manual pedal boxes, v8 one is different and more complex as it puts the clutch master vertically, but i have seen a car with a 4 cyl pedal box and the clutch master in its normal 4 cyl horizontal position, it will sit close to the exhaust manifold, so some heat shielding would be a good idea, primary shaft will be same length, 2600 bellhousing wont bolt to a v8

Thanks! If the primary pinion is the same length as for the V8, then the v8 bellhousing should be good? Dont seem to be any used ones available, so might have to get anew one!
thanks

I thought the 2600 SD1 had the LT77 box, not the R380?

The guy offering it says its a 380, and has sent me pics, but I cant pick one from the other from the pics. He is a petrol head, so no dummy on these things. I have asked for a serial no. At least its a 2wd unit, which are very rare here now. Problem is the bellhousing now - he only has one from a Defender, which is too long. Now looking into pedal boxes etc.
thanks

R380 gearboxes appeared much later after the end of SD1 production.
Also RWD R380 are quire rare. If it is indeed an R380 out of an SD1, then it must have been a fairly recent conversion, apparently replacing a worn out LT77.

Got a serial no, its an LT77. No big deal, its cheap enough. Just need a bellhousing now. If anybody comes across one (V8->LT77 for SD1) please sing out. At the moment the choice is import from UK or US, both new, freight a bit of a pain. Probably also need a P6 manual pedal box complete with pedals.
thanks

you might be interested to know the lt77 V8 clutch fork pivot pin is a different length to the other engines.

i could probably sort you out all the bits you want but postage is likely to be a killer

Thanks for the info and the offer. Wont know whats needed until its all in my garage - hoping the pivot is still bolted to the box, but will probably need the fork at least. Still hunting for a suitable P6B for the project also. Biggest issue is still the bellhousing.
thanks

I thought you folks down under use Toyota Supra boxes and the Dellow conversion bellhousing?

Some guys must do - else why would Dellow make the adaptors? Just prefer to go down a known route (have done it before). I wish I could see the bellhousings that are awash on ebay.

Facebook: “Friends of the Flynn Rover Collection” a large collection of Rovers were sold off in Oz as part of an estate, as well as tons of spare parts: might be a good source for a manual pedal box. Dellow conversion plus Toyota W57/58 5 speed 2 thumbs up ( Dellow are in Sydney ) if you use one of their bellhousings they have off-the-shelf solutions for running your Rover speedo off the Toyota box9FE9043F-7314-4269-A3F9-DE97FC1446C9.png

That auction (if its Slatterys?) is all marked as closed now. One of the boxes with bellhousing on ebay is obviously not for a V8, the bellhousing is all wrong.

Auction is closed; bidders who met on the day started the “friends of...” site to buy/sell/trade stuff from that Auction on Facebook; if you join the group there’s been a few of the Rovers sold parted out and there was literally tons of parts snapped up that have been traded ( and given away ) on that Group

Thanks for the list! Most say may not post to OZ, and the bellhousing alone is as dear as a NEW unit - getting freight (fright?) cost on the new one now, from Rimmers. New one from US is A$700 landed here.
thanks
