engine number

My engine number for My 2200 auto is 47605837A| can any body tell me is this a later engine with the main beaing's all with the oil groove or is it the early type with the middle bearing plain .

Regards John

My 2200 parts book only lists one set of main bearing, in either Std, 10 thou or 20 thou undersize , no other variation

My understanding is that early engines ( not sure if it is 2000 only) had a plain main bearing on number 3 but were upgrade to all bearings having an oil groove. If you look on the Wadhams site they advertise the 2 types for the 4 pot engines

They are all grooved for 2200 engines. Did my 2200tc last year Got mine from f w Thorntons.

It was only the early ones that had a plain bearing on number 3 journal OCC 469 - restoring & running a "sharkstooth" 2000

All 2200s will have grooved bearings throughout.
