Brakes interchangeability

My 1976 Rover 3500 will need all new brakes as it has been standing for 21 years.
So, I am curious to learn/know about the interchangeability of parts.

Front calipers - Girling type 16PB? Same as the 2000/2200? Same as Triumph TR6?
Rear calipers - type?
Master brake cylinder
Servo - what are the differences between the types (if any)?

What brake pads are recommended?

There is the option of reconditioning all the hydraulic cylinders myself (done that many times for other cars) - or is there an exchange reconditioning service available that you can recommend? Or maybe even new?

New to the Rover world so any supplier tips welcome!

welcome to rover life. these are interesting but challenging cars. many parts can be exchanged for refurbished units such as brake callipers .servos etc check out sites such as Wins international. I have exchanged my callipers all round .servo .master cylinder and brake lines when I took over a rover 3500 auto that had been standing 13 years!
also changed all fluids.tyres looked new but over ten years old! all hoses and flushed coolant system . handbrake still rubbish on mine but despite numerous attempts to sort (cable .on backstops etc) no real improvement but just about ..and I mean just about! scrapes through on annual test. hopefully your car will become a source of joy . there are many experts with rovers on this site. sadly I am not one of them.

I'm assuming you have a NADA 3500 there. Make sure you tell Wins, or whoever you ask for rebuilt brake bits, that you have one as they are different from the UK models.

Rover bits are fairly easy to get so to make sure you get the right thing, I personally would buy the Rover one and not try to get Triumph ones and hope they fit. But that's just me :) The rear pads are the same as one of the ford Z cars, but I am not sure which one.

The front Girling calipers on the 3500 are different to the four pot cars in the UK.

Mk4 Zephyr/Zodiac, but I'm sure the Fords don't have the warning light system. I only ever did one rear caliper on one of those. It needed the caliper overhauled, and the pivot pin replaced as it was seized solid, presumably because the calipers were outboard.

Thanks for the tips. The car is not NADA, just a common as chips 3500 automatic delivered new in the Netherlands :)

think the mk4 zephyr Zodiac rear callipers are physically same as used on rear rover p6 but mechanical bits are very different . pads probably same but they did not have the low pad wear wire as far as aware .certainly not on Zephyr ( had one of those for a few years back in 70's) best to try and ensure you give a much information a possible and get parts on a return if wrong basis if not correct ? though shipping costs can be painful.
Wins was very helpful and I have bene there a few times to pick up parts . odd other bits from e-bay or MGBD parts uk. plus Wadhams though they seem to stock little p6 stuff as mainly rover SD1 stocks.
do keep site updated with pics as you progress . any issues that arise can often get advise form. senior members such as Harvey whom is a mine of good information and expertise.

The only difference with the calipers is the handbrake operating arm. (Quadrant).
