Minilite options?

I never saw a police P6 with Minilites, only "S" wheeltrims, and I worked on a lot of them. As for the Minilites fitted to police Sd1s I have a set of those fitted to my P6B and have never noticed any problems with it.
Hi harvey
Do the SD1 minilites have a larger centre hole than the p6 ones? I have a set with the larger hole but wondered what they were off. What centre cap did you use?

IIRC I used centrecaps from Ford rostyles.

Looking at this photo it looks like the centre hole on the front is bigger than the rear

Possibly. The rear does look more like the wheels I have. It looks like it has the raised section in the centre.

So still a bit at sea.... OE was 165/80/14 .... the modern equivalent being 185/70/14.... will these be OK for my 6" /14 SD1 series 1 alloys?

Going through various topics (Board while working from home) and saw this! it was my car back in 2007, was my 2nd P6, eBay purchase, overall a lovely car but ended up replacing complete o/s inner/outer sills. The wheels were lovely being 15" minilites & really suited it! Sold it for less than I bought it for , looking at it now then wish I'd kept it, sundym glass, head rests, excellent interior ect.
Ah well that's life, now on my 5th P6 and far more knowledgeable and appreciate the cars far more!

So I got the S1 SD1 wheels restored in silver. 14" x6

Still not sure what tyres to fit. Opinions range from 185, 195 and 205. I'm wanting a bit more grip than standard but want to avoid rubbing and a wildly inaccurate speedo.

I have same wheels on mine, and was looking at refurbishing them the way you have. How did they look on the car in the end?

The problem I struck with SD1 S2 wheels (should be same with S1) is that these wheels are hub centered, not bolt centered. Since there is no hub at the rear, you need the bolt shanks to be a good fit in the wheel, and properly centered. I bought a set of nuts from USA and half of them had shanks not true to the threads. Getting the wheel face to sit flat on the front hub can take a little work on the dust cap.
