New Custodian of a 3500S in North Scotland

Hi there,

I'm new to this forum and the P6 model range, though not to more modern and older Rover products. I have recently became the owner of a 3500S in Cameron green, reg no KLA717K. Anyone on here recognise it? Eventually I'll try and post some photos, but for now just to say hello. The car has a poorly 4 speed box, and low compression on the left bank of cylinders, hence I plan to remove both units over the winter and rebuild them. A webasto sunroof is currently fitted, however I am in the process of removing this feature from the car and fitting a new roof in its place. I have all the parts, the rook skin, headling and new vinyl topping.

I have been more active with modern Rovers esp the 75, I am able to offer access to full factory diagnostics T4 Omitec for modern Rovers so if anyone wants any help then I can possibly oblidge if you are local in North Aberdeenshire.

Gary.

Firstly a big welcome to the forum Gary,
Congratulations on your p6 purchase I love cameron green  Have I understood you properly your removing the webasto roof  is it due to its condition :?: or that you prefer a solid roof :?: either way what colour is the webasto if in poor condition is it salvageable if so will you sell it on :?:

The sunroof looks a bit shabby tbh, the interior headling more so, and needed a good overhaul perhaps retrim inside. coupled with the vinyl on the roof bubbling in some areas. I decided to go for the best clean looking option imo. The colour of the sunroof is black and is in good shape with no cracking just needed the wire retensioning at one side, however the front header rail timber frame that slides back and forth is well shot and would have required a new one made.

Welcome Gary , pleased to see you posting here will have to set up a wee meet next spring when your up and running ! Also in touch with another P6 owner from your neck of the woods who has joined up here as well . He's up above you slightly, and runs a freelander diesel so pointed him in your direction for any T4 work or associated stuff. Cheers the now Tam.

Rudiger,

Yes that ties in with the last owners that I know of. Sold in 2006 ish from owner in Wales, to a gent from Nairn, Scotland. Then me in 2011.

Regards, Gary

Out with the old and in with the new.

Webasto sunroof removed and replaced with the Martrim suppied Leyland Vinyl topping for replacement roof skin and side pillars. 2.5M x 1.4 wide was sufficient for the job.

Now onwards to the engine and manual box overhaul

Looks like a very good job on the recovering there. :D

SWMBO wasn't too happy about though  as I had to use somehwere that was relatively warm and the dining room table was the candidate chosen

Look forward to seeing some more pics in due course.

Ron.

A belated photo shoot. Having changed over all the body panels for new over the winter, I had my first outing today and would like to share some photos.

Can’t decide whether to leave the chrome side strips off or not?
