Went for a jolly around north Norfolk yesterday and today, first road trip since the paint job. Car went really well we had a lot of fun,
She has got a liking for drinking though, not fuel as you'd expect but oil ! the motor is untouched from the time she was found in the barn and I reckon its about a litre to 200 miles  No blue smoke, though a little pongy at times.

Looks great in the sunshine, did it use a lot of oil prior to the work you've done?

Yes it has always been a heavy user its just the first time I have really bothered to measure it. I did not take any with me so had to buy a litre of 20 / 50 and after about 170 miles it needed 750ml.
It used to leak trans fluid at rest before the box swap, it does not leak anything now so it is burning engine oil.
I have a couple of engine options to check out for maybe next winter so will just keep topping up.
The 5 sp makes for a wonderful relaxed tourer which is exactly what I want for this car.
I am now at 30 psi all round on tyres and before I left I added a couple of clicks all round to the dampers, they are now 2 clicks off full hard all round. The car is driving very well, it does not care for deep tramlines much and crossing the white line at speed sometimes has a little jink, but all to be expected with such wide rubber. The ride is still very compliant and not harsh.

If it's not leaking oil and it's burning it then first step is a compression test. I'd say it's rebuild time :/ Is it making decent oil pressure?

I love your car I really do - would like to see it in the flesh at some point. I have to be honest - it's what I would dream to make my car look like if I had the skills, time and budget.

I have modified a few cars in the past with lowering etc. and my gosh they felt harsh but for some reason the P6 just takes it well - glad you have found the same thing.

Hi Alex thanks
TBH I really did not know how this was going to come out, I have messed around with fibreglass and stuff for a long while but this was a slightly bigger challenge, the body guys pulled it together for me that's for sure.
I was going to leave it as a rat rod and just smoke it around but I am a sucker for shiny things. BTW it is not a big budget build as can be seen by the engine situation, yes it is knackered.
After so many hours labouring on it I just want to enjoy it for the summer then think about making it GO !
Cheers

looks quite well done as sort of thing to be seen in flesh to appreciate best. Norfolk.. maybe a bit far but there is a show just outside clacton for classic cars ( free for exhibitors and one passenger) at plough corner little clacton on 21st may and again on 27th august. run by clacton classic car club and it welcomes all old cars ( 25 year plus) and motorcycles. has a sort of fair. stalls etc and is run to get charity funds for area. no profit making . I have been to 2 shows and exhibited at one. at last show was several p5's and a few p6's . mostly 2000 and 2200 designation. my only gripe with p6 is poor anti roll and rear inboard brakes ! but you very well aware its foibles .

I'll note down the dates.
The anti roll bar is sorted and rear brakes are being looked at.
Cheers.

Great looking car....minimalist suggestion: had a blow-by symptom with one of my cars, found a treatment with 'Seafoam' (google it) advertised as 'tune-up in a can' did wonders and gave me quite a few more miles!

OB, I think its a little past tune up in a can, I am just grateful it runs at all after such a long lay up. It is not totally done in but could do with some lurv.
Tyrol, I did that over on my project thread.

love the arches and side exit pipe..... dam it I cant wait for mine to be finished and on the road

That looks awesome. Just a thought on your oil consumption - clean flame traps a must. But I guess you've covered those.
