oil or grease?

Hi all , in the process of replacing water pipes and water pump etc, i have dismantled the alternator to find i need a new slip ring and brush set.
What kind of lubricant can /should i use for the two bearings after cleaning them and before reassembly please.

Rover Repair operation Manual advises Shell Alvania RA lubricant for alternator bearings Operation G5 -A . Just spoken with local shell agent and it seems it is now Shell Gadus s5 v42p 2.5. Lithium based high speed bearing grease.

I would replace the bearings with shielded ones (2rs) .these are lubricated for life. If your slip ring needs replacing, the bearings will not be that good either and these are really cheap.
