two coolers?

ive looked and it seems to me that the pipe from the transmission goes to the cooler inside of the radiator and then the other pipe from the radiator feeds a remote oil cooler in front of the radiator which then returns the feed to the box via the other pipe.
Can someone confirm this is standard and correct please.
Why two coolers?
Thanks Karl

That's not standard. TBH the cooler in the rad is the weak link and you'd be better off bypassing that and just using the remote cooler on its own.

Bearing in mind your history it sounds like a previous owner had gearbox overheating problems as well.
