    OK, a bit of wiggling and levering and it's the bottom ball joint that's the culprit...the great big one that faces downwards on the strut. It's got a hell of a lot of play in it so that needs to get changed ASAP. Are they a big job?

    OK, stall test worked fine engine speed stayed at 1800rpm absolutely spot on. I then disconnected the kickdown cable and took the car for a run around the block. It ran a lot smoother but obviously no kickdown. I've adjusted (slackened) the cable as far out as it will go, but the car still kicks...

    That's what I'll look for then...there were no obvious witness marks, and it only does it on right hand turns which is odd. I'll have a better look in the garage later.
