    Windscreen Rubber

Mmmm, might just leave it alone! It's not leaking, just looks it's age. Was thinking of trying to get hold of a lammy screen to save the mess when someone hurls a rock at me from the huge tyres fitted to the modern 'sheds' on the roads these days. Price was a bit, oh my goodness yes, so won't be...

More Classic Stupidity from the DVLA

Sounds a bit stupid to me. So any car, regardless if classic, historic, or newer, if it has a new wing and bumper due to some numpty crashing into it, the taxation class changes? Think the idiots making up these rules want to drink less wine before going to the meetings! As Harvey points out, as...

    Windscreen Rubber

Hi all, considering eventually getting round to replacing the windscreen rubber on the 2000. Where is the best place to get replacement? How much of the stainless trim has to come off? The sides look like they screw on. We had the metal scuttle off to paint it in 2018, so that should remove...

    2000 engine rattle

Just swapped the oil and filter for Mark. Housing has a stand pipe and the old and new filters have non return and anti drain valves. The automatic side was fine last year when we had the box out. Harvey gave us the info on what to check and how. Checked the bolts today, all secure. The sound is...

    2000 engine rattle

Thanks for all your replies. Oil is apparently due for it's yearly change. I'll make sure he gets a correct filter, though I'm sure the one that is on is correct. The noise is certainly a regular loud tap, probably more than one cylinder if not them all. Seems odd it is only under load. When on...

    2000 engine rattle

Both chains and tensioners were done last year as they were rattling. Did them while we had the top and bottom off the motor for other jobs. Engine has to be at normal temp before it gets any better. Oil light stops on for three or four seconds when starting from stone cold, assume while it...

    2000 engine rattle

Hi all, just been to my friends garage for a natter. He said his 2000SC rattle has got worse over the course of last year. We did the bearings last year when we had the sump off. They looked OK but replaced anyway. Good oil pressure. Had the head off to do broken valve springs and the normal...

    Sticky Brakes 2000

Seems to be all of the brakes, so will have a go at the valve I think.

    Sticky Brakes 2000

Just taken our 2000 out for a gallop round before the next batch of crap weather arrives. Noticed when the brakes are applied the pedal moves fine, the brakes work ish then come on more. and work normally. When pressure is removed from the pedal, there is a delay in the brakes going off. When...

    Race/Rally car project car?

Interesting replies and many thanks to you all. We used to do stage rallying back in the day (late seventies) was good fun and cheap. Did rallies to the late eighties with a Subaru, then it got out of hand expense wise and someone suggested the regularity with special tests type events. We have...

    Race/Rally car project car?

Anyone built a classic rally Rover P6? Considering building one if we sell our 2000. Seems to be a lot of 2ltr cars around. How difficult is it to graft a 3500 in to the 2 thou bodyshell. Considering it won't be concourse car, cutting won't be a problem. We have a V8 engine from one of our many...

    Oil leak on 2000SC

Mate of mine had the same problem. Was the 'o' ring as Harvey says. Not a bad job really. Might as well seat the valves at the same time. Good job we did Johns, as we found two broken valve springs!
