Would appreciate feedback from anyone that’s done this, is it necessary to remove the front screen?

thanks!

Graham

Nope.. just be prepared to lose some skin from the back of your hand, as you slip that very small spanner under the top to get at all of the nuts - someone will correct me, but 5/16"?

Hi Graham,

It is quite a fiddle as Chris mentioned. Not a lot of room and lots of little nuts to remove. The hardest part is the section behind the instruments. Much less room to place your hand with next to no visibility, so I am sure your neighbour's cat will learn some new words ;)

Ron.

I seem to recall yours was a series II with the round instruments. This is much easier. as the instrument panel is easier to pull out.

But really keep a note of how the fastenings come off and how those triangle things work and it is pretty straightforward.

Indeed, a Series 2 with a very sorry looking cracked dash cover… thanks for your advice and to others who chimed in, that’ll make things easier…

Now I just need the time to get this done; currently on a driving contract for the Olympics in Tokyo ( Toyota Alphard; not a P6! )

Oh, and when you put it back, don't over-tension those triangular pieces, the thread will break away - I had spares, you may not be so lucky.
