Make me an offer on anything, and I'll post within the UK. Gearlevers are £25 each inc postage.

Let me know if you come across a passenger door mirror, and fuel sender unit
thanks

Just removed my tank, forgot the reserve had been blocked of by previous owner
Tank bloody heavy? The reserve fuel was still in it, about 2.5 gallon, (in old money),,Dam hernia didn't help
Obviously the reserve tap was not going to work .Fuel sender unit shot to pieces anyway
So, P6 3500 1978 Auto, the reserve lever cable, goes to?? where is the valve? I wish to reinstall the reserve
Just as a note to other people, if the reserve does not work, and you run out of gas, there is still this 2.5 G still sloshing around in the tank
Note to Chris, I am not in any particular hurry, but, if you could give me some info by phone 01375670344
Regards
Brian

You should find the reserve tap at the back of the engine bay just inside the transmission tunnel, down quite low next to the bellhousing. Not the easiest place to reach.

Right, brain sorted, the past owner fitted an electric fuel pump about 6 inches from the tank, this is probably why he did away with the reserve equipment, couldn't fit the valve in,
So, I will try to get the valve that fits under the tank, connect up and bingo!
Next, try to find the cable route from the consul, connect up, and hopefully a reserve system.
Now looking for said valve, ideas welcomed
keep well
Brian

I fitted an electric pump at the back of my car, and relocated the reserve tap from the front to the back, near the tank, before the pump. I had to fit a longer reserve cable. I like the reserve feature, it was worth the effort to be able to retain it. Try the usual P6 suppliers, Wins International, Mark Gray or J R Wadhams. You might have to get a long cable made up, using the handle from the one you have now.

The reserve tap is the same as far as I'm aware, whether located front or back. The NADA cables are best for this, unless you want to get one made up.

Thanks people,
Found the tap, how the b****y h**l I am expected to do any thing to get to it.
As stated down, down (x2), behind engine about level with the driver feet, RHD, the pull side cable still attached, this means I have to get to it so as to extract the lever and re-run another cable to the back of the car
Another note, the workshop manual, shows the reserve lever, on the left, the choke on the right hand side of the consul. The position of the tap and the carburettor, says (to my mind) the levers being as they are across each other, and would be better with the choke on the left, reserve on the right?? ( OK the driver may have to reach 6" more),
Am I being pedantic, (learned that word when I was an AUEW shop steward. Of course that is some weird, larger consortium now, of which I still pay subs)
So if I was up to modern stuff I could add a photo of sender, just to show how cars can have little secrets, and most owners could be unaware of surprises lurking
Little rant closed down
Regards
Brian

Har Har, but I have a 3500, or it was the last time I looked. Anyway the valve is in a stupid place Now got the sender unit in bits, another wonder design, control box full of petrol?
I have now also got the float almost full of fuel, did the old trick, put in hot water, no result so far.
Keep well
Brian
