Air intake Valence...advice please.

I had cause to remove air the intake valance in order to remove the wiper motor assembly to access the cable which goes through the bulkhead. Now I have come back to refitting this and I am struggling trying to get this to line up on the side where the small screws either side which screws to the base unit.
I have attached pictures and if anyone has had cause to remove this and refit. What am I not doing in order to get this to line up without force.
Many thanks in anticipation.IMG_20210703_122204.jpgIMG_20210703_122220.jpg

I'm not 100% sure of what you're asking TBH, but you should only have one of the the thin nuts on there. The other one goes on after the scuttle has been replaced and holds the funny shaped washers against the scuttle.

Thanks for your reply.
That's where I made the mistake. It was a long time ago that I removed it although I took pictures, I couldn't find them as they were on my old phone's memory storage. The Rover operation manual is great, but not enough details. Different story if removed and refitted within a respectable time, but I guess it's been over 10 months. All done now. Just got to put the dash back together...

I had a bit of difficulty getting the small screws at the outer ends of the valance into the base unit - with only one of the nuts on the wiper shafts. I needed more hands to hold the ends in place while starting the screws.....

that lower screen rubber looks like its doing its job.
Most P6 owners don't know theirs has disintegrated as they are out of sight.
A cheap preventative maintenance issue.

Yes, I did struggle with mine and an extra pair of hands would have made the job easier and quicker, but I just wanted to complete the job. All done now.

You are referring to the large rubber grommet (best description) which then has the metal shaped plate which is held in place by the other washer and nut. Question: Where can one get replacement grommets as mine are cracked. Are these still available?
Many thanks.

I use a bit of hotmelt glue to stick the screw into the screwdriver, it makes it so much easier to locate the screws.

I notice the metal discs under the chrome nut were slightly differently dished. Any particular way to refit if someone didn't notice when removing? asking for a friend.

It will be obvious when you put them in place, but can't think right now. I did pay attention, but the time in-between removal and refitting was over 6 months and made the mistake of not taking a photo.

One is dished and (for the want of a better word) symmetrical, this goes with the dish downwards on the drivers side (RHD) the other one is still dished, but not symmetrical in the way the other one is, (it should be easy to tell them apart), this goes with the dish upwards on the passenger side (RHD), and needs to be turned so that it lays correctly over the rubber in the valence panel. This is because of the screen IIRC

At least that's how i remember it. Trouble is over time lots get lost and replaced with two the same, usually driver's side ones.
