Hallo All,
SteadyEddy here, or just plain Eddy, Ed, or even Oi You will do ! I've just rejoined the Rover P6 owner's world after a 20 year gap. Back in the 70's I used to drive 3500S's as part of my job (no prizes for guessing what that was) and in the late 90's I purchased a 1972 P6B to remind me of those days. The DVLA tell me that car has now gone to foreign fields so I got myself a 1972 2000SC via a well known televised classic car auction house in North Yorkshire.
I'm afraid I'm not in the same league as those of you who like nothing more than donning overalls and climbing inside, under and on top of our favorite car. So, unless it's really simple and not too technical, I'll be leaving much of the work that will need doing to a couple of local classic car specialists. Not good for my bank balance, but I'll enjoy driving 'Ronnie the Red Rover' without wondering which bit I bolted on will fall off first!
Have already posted a thread about a very sloppy ignition switch and I look forward to many interesting views on this site.
Cheers!

Welcome to the forum Eddy! Let’s see some photos of your car!

Even if you’re not too technically minded I think you’ll be able to handle a fair amount on the SC. There’s a wealth of experience on here and people are very encouraging. I certainly would have faltered a few times without forum members support.

All the best from New Jersey,

Steven

Welcome Eddy
Wasn`t you who gave me a ticket on Blue Bell hill back in 1977 was it? Ha Ha!
I`m only up the road from you so hope to see you about in it.
If you get stuck for parts or advice this is the best place for help

Cheers Nick, nice to hear from you. That 1977 ticket depends on whether it was at the top of the hill or the bottom ! The boundary between our Maidstone garage and 2 Area at Rochester was nearer the top.
Got my eye on 'meets' at Yalding and Headcorn to visit just as soon as I get 'Ronnie' back from Percivals at Ulcombe. Got him only last Wednesday, went to go for a spin on Thursday, 250 yards from home and the bush at the bottom of the gear lever disintegrated !!
Looking forward to meeting you some time in the not too distant future.
Ed

Hello and Welcome Eddy,
Driving a 3500s for a living sounds like my dream job :)
Good luck with Ronnie and don't be afraid to ask no matter what the problem is or how often you have problems lol
The ladies and gents on this forum are amazing they have helped me so much with different problems
and it is most appreciated no matter how small the problem is and no matter how old we are we are all still learning.
All the Best

Nick I bet you was speeding so you could get to sit in the back of the 3500s lol

Hi Ban,
Thanks for the welcome (have seen your reply to my ignition problem, will respond on that thread). Already loving the atmosphere on this site, as you say everyone is so helpful.
Kind regards,
Ed

Crickey mate tell me that`s not the proper mileage. Two and a half thousand miles since 2006. I have to say I do like the strip speedo and round clock/rev counter.
Have you run it through the old police computer yet?

Nick

Hi Nick,
I'm working on the premise that there should be a 1 in front of the mileage, but can't verify that at the mo. Mileage on DVLA MoT site appears to be genuine and I have paper ones back to 1985 with a few gaps.
Look closely at interior photo and n/s passenger door - quarter light fixed shut and no wheel to open it??? Interior is a bit 'iffy' and will need lots of TLC over the coming months.
Am chomping at the bit waiting to get it back next week so I can take it for my first drive! Then the work begins.
Lost my access to the PNC many years ago when I retired !
Ed

Just checked all the paperwork that came with the car and the 1985 MoT shows just over 10 thousand miles and there are references to either 15 or 20 years 'in storage'. So there's a good chance the mileage is genuine, although not verifiable.
Interesting that in 2017 it had a new gear lever and bush fitted. That's what it's in the garage for now! Hope my new ones last longer than 2 years.

Your Welcome Horselogger there is also another film along the same lines The Rover SD1 The Film is Called Oscar Oscar on Youtube

The Met P6 in falkor's photo is one number below the registration on my Corgi Vanguards traffic model P6 in my collection.
Hope the Met didn't use the repair shop again that resprayed the r/n/s/ door !
There's no 'S' after '3500' on the wing so, in line with the majority of cars in the Met at the time, this is probably an auto box version.
In Kent, we always liked to play around with that funny little lever between the seats !
