evening all together,

can anybody tell me with which type of steering wheel and hearests a 1975 rover 3500S with PAS left the factory? possibly with pictures?

In the UK teardrop headrests and the 16" two spoke leather "PAS" wheel. The centre boss would have "3500 Rover S" but I have heard some later cars got the viking ship logo like the auto with PAS.

Export model, then "could be different".

That is a NON PAS wheel, and ET's were an option so maybe it had them from new, but an easy switch over its live time.

thanks a lot for your help.
maybe the former owner wanted to "replicate" a bit the series1 look which was already done on the outside (S1 bonnet and S1 grille on S2 car)

Looks like it. Most people prefer the leather wheel but the stitching can come apart. I'm not sure when/if ETs stopped being offered. I'm fairly certain they didn't make it until the end of production. All this is trivially easy to swap of course.

i prefer the tiny non PAS wheel....designwise it suits better, imo.

for the ET´s i´m also not sure if they still made them in 1975...anyway...the ET´s are considered to be have a higher value than the standard ones, so nice to have them.:)

tiny non PAS wheel? thought all none PAS where the larger ones? aware PAS was an option ( mine sadly without) have have the standard. wheel with rover logo 3500 centre piece. ( series 2 p6b '74) cannot. think why anybody would want smaller wheel without PAS given the effort needed for parking or a three point turn involves.
though anything over 5MPH steering isn't an issue just involves a lot of wheel turns. thought about having. EPAS fitted but. it seems. out of my reach price wise and kit forms for self fitting few and far between etc still new carpets are on horizon for next year :)

tiny in terms of thickness of the rim, .not in terms of diameter ;)

i´m happy to have a PAS, but the more items are fitted, the more can go wrong....fingers crossed that my PAS will last forever without any major repairs.:D

for authenticity of my car: does anybody own a PAS wheel and might sell it too me?

BTW I know some people has EPAS but using a genuine PAS system drops the number of turns lock-to-lock from a cumbersome 4.5 to still not exactly sporty 3.5. For reference the SD1 3500 with PAS is 2.7 which is similar to most modern cars. This is one area that makes the P6 feel a bit antique.

I don't think so, that's just people removing the leather. The early woodrim had aluminium (not polished) spokes.

I disagree. 3500S with the optional PAS wheel had the bare spokes, autos were leather covered, although I'm sure you could specifically order one replaced by the other if you chose to. All my manual cars with PAS back in the day had the bare spokes, and I only had one auto with PAS, and that had the leather covered spokes.

i stand corrected. it could be far more autos had pas. we forget today the manual was also budget spec as standard.

IIRC there were only something like 20,000 manual V8s ever made so steering wheels for PAS-fitted cars will be relatively rare.

I have a bare-spoked leather wheel on my early 2000 - not correct for the car, but I think it's the dog's ....;)
