Curved V8 Bonnet Badge

Hello

I have had two holes where the badge should be for too long. Really would like to cover them over!

Actually I stupidly threw old old one away thinking that I would just get a new one. Hmmm.

Thanks
Adrian

I think eBay uk would be worth looking at. Rover badges appear frequently, but prices vary considerably. There is a mark 1 p6 badge on at the moment.

Hi

I have been looking on and off for literally years and have never seen one come up. Plenty of the flat ones but never a bonnet type every time I looked. Not the cleverest thing to discard.

I've got a couple of similar little holes on our P5B bonnet. The badge was missing well before the last paint job (about 30 years ago). I don't follow EBay so that maybe worth a look for me too, unless someone has one somewhere that they may like to sell

A thought
Badges like those are usually made of a soft material, either brass or Mazak. If you had a piece of heavy wall tube and drilled a couple of holes in it for the pins, then clamped a flat badge along the length of the tube, with a nylon hammer you may be able to dress the curve in the badge. If the chrome splits, send it off for re plating.
The badge may break, but it's gotta be worth a go.

the P6 Mk II badges are actually pretty well flat with the two studs. The SD1 badge is slightly curved and sticks on. You can use them on a P6 but the middle of the back is raised up so youhave to fill the edges. The ROVER writing is also thicker on the later badge.

I think Ian Wilson arranged for some to be made just before his passing. I contacted the company but got no reply to multiple attempts bar onwe where they gave me some prices.

If someone knows who made the last batch (possibly a US company) I'll happily fund another batch!

Mk2 bonnet badge on eBay uk at the moment: latest price: £45.01. ( the Mk 1 is still there at around £10).

Are we talking V8 badge as per title of post, or ROVER badge for a V8 car ?

Confused from Suffolk

Presumably the Series 1 ‘V8’ bonnet badge, which is indeed slightly curved.

I too have been down that track but could never find out who the last USA company was.

I beleive Wynns has the proprietary ownership of the manufacturing rights from Ians sale or passing on of the business to them but they stubbornly seem to refuse to get a run done, no kudos points for them at all in this.

In the interim I had been trying to track down a suitable company to manufacture some (Bonnet and boot badges not the V8 emblem) but can't find enough decent examples of OEM badges to use as samples, all in all very frustrating so far.

Yes, it's the V8 badge as shown on pic above. I think I am at the point where a bastardization of some form or other is in order.....Ugh. Although the engine needs to be removed before I am going anywhere so there is still time...

As it turns out, the smaller flat one with pins removed will do the job. The curve really is not enough to be noticeable with the smaller (I think slightly) badge. Anyhow the engine is largely disconnected so the chrome niceties are the least of current worries.......although sooner or later I will have to work out the best way to stick it on sans pins..

The P5/P5B's don't have bonnet badges. They're on the grille.
