It's 2017 and You Can Buy a Classic Range Rover Directly from Land Rover

Like the look but I see no reason to build them back to totally original spec unless they are going in a museum. There are so many technical improvements over the years. Why would you not want 3.9EFi, 5 speed manual or Auto? Modern ABS? What Kingsley Range Rover do would seem far more to the point if it were my cheque book.

Peter is right. as well as being totally outdated and with emission controls getting tighter ( London!) we will see its use being restricted .plus as it will be a 'new' car registration will it be allowed into classic car shows ( other than as a replica- with signage to say so) . rule i think being vehicles 25 years or older only!
over the top price so essentially a toy for rich buggers .. ( slightly envious of course as pocket money stops at a mere £135 ) decimal point envy lol
originally designed for farmers . so capable off roader and at time of making bit of class too. I recall BL saying they made decision form 2 factors . cheap mass production or setting higher prices and try for new market. obviously it was decided to go for higher unit profit with sale market expectations actually lower than production reached in first 5 years. essentially a good design. now sought after . but at that price ..it like buying the replacement jaguar E type hand made to order with same chassis. style ing etc . ( yes those were ? for sale too) likely there is a market for rich mans toys .. sadly it's unlikely rover p6's will soar to new heights as other than a few minor TV roles and princess of Monaco dying in one .. not much to garner interest form kids . these will be tomorrows buyers and will look to but cars that 'dad' drove when they were a kid. alternatives such as ferraris etc have a 'cool' and everybody wants one interest. thus prices with low volume of originals drive into clouds.
personally if i had that sort of cash ( hmm bank and stocking over head comes to mind lol) I would buy a range rover but choose one i wanted at price was fair of market bearing in mind its condition .work needs doing etc .

Ron -The Tudors are cheap as chips over here in NZ . Tempted to buy a dunger and spend my twilight doing one up

I love this idea and would love to see some new classics running around. Morris minor or triumph herald anyone? Alvis Te21? Austin 1800? Stag? E30 bmw 325? Of course it’s academic to me since I couldmt afford one. A bank job might free up the readies, but not until a new mk2 jag could be sourced to make the getaway...

Morris Minor in station wagon form or flatDeck or salon in fact any form of Moggy and I am in but Austin 1800 eek eek run away run away.

The durability of the concept of the Moggy is evident in the amount on the road and the passion they still engender from Joe blow and his missus even in the 21st century.
I must say that the Moggy is the UK's VW Bettle and it has been sorely overlooked in the retro re manufacture stakes that has swept other iconic models

Its true the Minor has been overlooked in that sense. However the modern mini and beetle, while no doubt excellence cars in themselves, with some very quirky and rather groovy styling, in my opinion didn’t stay true to the originals in the way I hoped. I do like both cars, but, and this is especially true of the latest very large mini and the beetle, they are cars that merely resemble their predecessors, rather than develop them. To be honest they strike me as a bit cartoonish. This isn’t meant to be derogatory, just to point out that they come across more as homages to the originals than genuine developments. Just my two pennorth.
