P6 1967-1976 wiring diagram, does any one have one?

Hello, I was wondering if any one could help me. My mate has a V8 trike powered by a Rover V8 engine, after checking the engine number ( 45103268A) I think it's from a P6 between 67 and 76. At the moment he is having problems with the electrics and I'm trying to help him solve it, but unfortunately, the guy he bought it from didn't give him a wiring diagram or even use a simple colour scheme to help identify the different lines. I won't bore you with the details but the wires are crammed into a tiny space, no slack and even though it looks like a professional job it's just not user friendly. My mate has been conned out of too much money on this trike so far, so I'd love to be able to sort it for him, just to prove than not everyone is out for a quick buck.

So I was wondering if any one could post up or send me a wiring diagram for the relevant P6 so that I have something to work with, it will at least give me an idea, I'm more used to working with Vdubs and the radiator plus and extra 4 cylinders is confusing the hell out of me

Hi Paul,

I'm sure there will be any number of us on here that will gladly email you P6 wiring diagrams but so we don't unintentionally lead you astray, is the engine unmodified do you know? Is it still carb for instance?

Could you post up some pictures?

Cheers,

Thanks for the reply Vaultsman, as far as I know the engine is un-modified, just a standard rover V8 with what looks to be a SU carb on it. No pictures though I'm afraid, my mate who owns it isn't computer literate at all, but next time I go over I'll remember to take the camera with me.

Hi Paul

451.. denotes that the engine originally resided in a 3500 Auto with a 10.5:1 compresion ratio.

.....03268 is the serial number and means that it was the 3268th 3500 auto to leave the factory.

As there were 3,604 3500 RHD just for the homemarket in the first year, I would deduce (and I may be wrong) that it came from a 1968 car.

Not much of it is for the engine though, the wiring is fairly simple on these things.

Let us know how you get on

Richard

Wow, many many thanks for the helpful replies, that diagram helps although I think might take vaultsman up on his offer as well.

PM on it's way vaultsman.

Diagrams duly emailed Paul,

Good Luck again...and as quattro says...do let us know how you get on.

Cheers,
